The unit feeder has been dead since Christmas. You can't download units nor upload results. Yesterday the whole cosmo@home domain was down. Administrators have disappeared. It's not looking very good.

Well work is flowing again for what it's worth... Admin still MIA. The Professor, Ben Wandelt, behind the project responded to a side email and said things were going to get better... that was about 10 months to a year ago. He posted a news article on this site 9 months ago saying bigger things are coming, but he needs to find the people.

I removed all my systems about 8 months ago. I am not willing to waste clock cycles on a project that has not published a science paper an extremely long time and is currently running on good intentions. If and when it becomes viable I will reevaluate.

The Cosmology project is for the most part unattended and stuck in autopilot. Examples are SPAM in the forums and no Admin feedback.

Unless the Admin returns and resumes control I would suggest that you use your CPU cycles elsewhere until the day he chooses to care again.

This is the path that many older volunteers have taken.

Owner / Admin is inactive Spam in forums with no indication that WU Tasks are benefiting anyone or anything.

I suggest that you suspend involvement until such time that the Admin / Owner cleans the SPAM out of the News forum and updates the Project with current status.

Communications from above on this project has always been and probably always will be when and if the Admin wants to say something he will, and if he does not want to he doesn't.

I suspect that he figures that it is an all volunteer operation with users who will come and go and he doesn't cater to them and probably can't be shamed into it.

I have been with the Project awhile and when other Projects need extra clock cycles I take them from here and other good projects where the Admin's treat Users as commodities.

Good point about Admin approval .... He approved years ago, but that has been a lot of clock cycles.

BOINC 7.8.6 for Mac OS is now available on the primary BOINC Download Site:

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

From Charlie Fenton ...

This is a release for Macintosh only; there are no changes from 7.8.3, 7.8.4 or 7.8.5 affecting the code for any other platform. It fixes a couple of Mac-only bugs in 7.8.5:
* Reliably installs the BOINC screensaver (unless asked not to do so.)
* Fixes a bug which could prevent determining the correct size of RAM when run on versions of OS X older than OS 10.11.

Well it has been another six months and the question is begging to be asked.

Has there been any movement in implementing a set of Badges for this Project ?

At least 27 other fine projects have them. And they are a positive form of feedback for users who commit their time and machines to science and not coins.

Thanks

Well it has been about 8 months have you reached any conclusions about making the Master and Schedulers HTTPS as Primary ?

And or forwarding from the HTTP address ?

You would have to Create the Same "Team" on C@H and join it as a member. All things must be the same. Since you currently have a Team that you can't update as you have no email access this might not be wise in the long run.

Please add a Host deletion option to your Compueter management screen next to the Merge function. I have older slower systems that will never be able to be one of the first two systems to respond for a distributed work unit. Since they will never receive credit for work unit being the third to respond I want to remove them from the project. I am aware that I can detach, but I also want to remove from your database.

Elsewise consider granting credit for the first three valid responses. This would keep three systems working in the event one fails to respond or has a local problem.

Thanks

Scott,

Please tell us a little more about the major system work coming up. Are you expanding your hardware capabilities or making major sofware / OS changes or perhaps relocating the physical hardware and networking to a different location ?

You have sparked our interest so... \"spill the beans\" as they say.

Thanks
