Update from the project
(Message 9739)
Posted 11 Dec 2011 by ![]() Post: I answered this elsewhere on the forums. Briefly, what happened in 2009: those accounts got hacked, and spammed. They then included material that violated the proper use rules of the university against profanity etc. If we hadn't shut them down immediately we would have had to take down the whole site, ie all of C@H. We did not have the resources to go through all these accounts individually, re-open them and "re-imburse" the participant's lost credit. On the whole I think we have been extremely fair with credit, but this was a case where criminal activity took us to a situation where we did not have full control and we had to act quickly. Why didn't you bother to answer any questions about this for far over a year (Message 8851 - Posted 28 Jan 2010 13:50:20 UTC ), but instead left this forum and your volunteers for such a long time? I simply don't believe you, you've treat your crunchers with utter contempt and then fabricate this fairy tale about hacking of accounts and profanity. If they were indeed hacked, they would have been hacked in all BOINC projects, as the participants usually use the same password in all projects. As this didn't happen, you were just extremely trigger happy in deleting unsuspecting accounts. |

Update from the project
(Message 9479)
Posted 21 Aug 2011 by ![]() Post: If you would dare to be bothered to answer to people who got their accounts here deleted without having done anything wrong, and have complained to you for over a year, I would take your words as a good sign. But as you still refuse to care about your crunchers, I take it as a piece of crap posted to sedate the crunchers. Post something valuable in this threads: URGENT PROBLEMS THREAD (2009 and after) deleted Account The problem is known to the project at least since 28 Jan 2010 13:50:20 UTC, but they arrogantly refuse to answer to it's participants, to which they have done harm. They messed it up, they slapped some of their participants in their face with all might, and they refuse to act on their deeds. |

Posted 17 Jul 2011 by ![]() Post: a year passed since my account has been deleted. No one gives a shit. No admin runs this project. Why are they sending WU's? I would like to know on what hardware the project is running, it's quite reliable stuff running so long without any admin caring about it. |

I very much doubt that anyone gets anything from this project besides the electricity companies of the users who still crunch here. This project is just a zombie without any use. |

(Message 8910)
Posted 5 Mar 2010 by ![]() Post: Hmm maybe now is not the best time to come back. Saenger, did you ever get back the missing credits? And I don't follow when Ben said the account had inappropriate information. Can anyone elaborate on that? I never lost my credits, just the poor fellows that got their account deleted without any reason. And no, they didn't get their credit back, the project team doesn't care about it's crunchers. There was nothing inappropriate in their profiles, but they got deleted nevertheless by some ruthless bot or jerk in care of this random deletion spree. They didn't get a warning, they didn't get an explanation, they didn't do anything wrong, they got just kicked in their ass. |

(Message 8887)
Posted 23 Feb 2010 by ![]() Post: This project deletes random accounts of valid crunchers, doesn't do anything for this crunchers to retrieve those accounts, and obviously doesn't even bother to answer those crunchers who were unjustified fdeleted. The official story about this deletion, a "hacked account", is not believable, as a hacked account would give the hackers access to all accounts in every project the crunchers participate in. As no such thing happened, the account was not hacked, if anything was hacked, it was the database of this project. The random deletion spree, the non-reaction of the admins, the disregard for volunteer crunchers, slowly develop a kind of Predictor-feeling, anybody remember the "admin" DLB of Predictor? If this indefensible things will go on further, I think we, i.e. our team at least, will have to consider this project not valuable any more. ![]() For further information look as well in this two threads: http://www.cosmologyathome.org/forum_thread.php?id=758 http://www.cosmologyathome.org/forum_thread.php?id=667 |

(Message 8875)
Posted 14 Feb 2010 by ![]() Post: 3) The project has been under attack by spam robots, and our only practicable way of removing offensive material from the website is to remove those accounts affected. Unfortunately this seems to have been done in a very unprofessional manner as you can see in this threads: deleted Account URGENT PROBLEMS THREAD (2009 and after) At least 3 accounts of harmless users have been deleted without any reason, at least without any thinkable reason. And nothing has been done to undo this severe error within the last two weeks. |

(Message 8874)
Posted 14 Feb 2010 by ![]() Post: You no longer there, comrade, except here to write? He created a new account to write here, but his credits were "stolen" with his old account, same thing that happened to diclo and Autofuzzy. If you would have read the whole thread you would have known this of course, but that's probably too much expected ;) Edit: We even contacted the right persons via email, as you can see in this thread, but still no sufficient answer. |
