The download errors are the 2nd thing on my list of things to do for Cosmo@home over the Summer. The first being a dynamic credit granting scheme. ^_^
So stay tuned for updates after May 17th!

For me, having WU's to crunch would be a better #1.

Failed downloads cannot a good crunch make - nor will they then ever contribute to a completion or a granting of credit.

If WU's can have a crunching checkpoint then i kinda fail to see why a download cannot have one also!

Thanks for your reply, Shem

All credits for this computer are showing correctly at all the places you suggest - it's just not showing in BV - in fact, it shows zero. Av User cr show correctly just not Av Host cr. And Cosmo is the only project this prob occurs in.

Restarting BV, re-installing BV, changing to a previous version of BV and whether it is Linux or Windows, no matter - this computer does not show in BV.

Quite perplexing.

Here's a different prob - i'm running two machines but only one is showing as having an individual host credit in BoincView (v1.5 b8).

i know this program is no longer supported or mantained but Cosmology is the only BOINC project in BoincView where i have this anomoly (i'm connected to and running correctly 3 projects witha further 5 set to no new work and not running).

Av User Credit is showing correctly for both hosts in all my projects but only one host is showing a zero Host Credit and this only occurs in Cosmo?

Has anyone else seen this? How did you resolve it or is it just unique to Cosmology@Home and therefore i should just go away and live with it??!!

So ... may i ask when exactly are you planning to implement the "progress bar"?

The way i read this is.. longer unspecified time work units, together with a not-so-visible-to-us checkpoint system at an unspecified arbitary final stage will most likely make a few people more than a little nervous.

And is it also possible to give an indication of exactly what sort of an invalidated result prob we may expect?

Many thanks

Problem of signing up has now been solved -0 it appeared that the uninstall prog did not fully remove all entries

So i manually removed *all* Boinc entries from everywhere i could find them which also removed the leftover entries from the Unbuntu Synaptic installation, then downloaded a new Boinc from: http://www.getdeb.net/app.php?name=Boinc

This installer worked a treat for both BOINC Manager and BOINC Client

Happily crunching cosmos now

And is that the Boinc which is actually running, and which is displayed in one of the first lines in the message tab of Boinc Manager?

Hmm - no!
Wed 04 Jul 2007 15:31:51 EST||Starting BOINC client version 5.4.11 for i686-pc-linux-gnu

Reason why I ask is that I usually install Boinc through Synaptic Package Manager. The version you get then is 5.4.11. It's a bit tricky to upgrade the setup installed through the package. Simple downloading an upgrade and running the shell command doesn't suffise.

OK, looks like this is the prob - a conflict btw what i think is running and what actually is running.

However, V5.4.11 was originally installed via Synaptic, then it was uninstalled the same way before upgrading. Looks like all the v5.4 entries for it were not removed automatically.

Suggestions for totally removing these old entries would be appreciated.

Currently, Ubuntu Feisty Fawn v7.04 and Boinc Mngr v5.8.16 installed to home/user/Desktop/BOINC

i have successfully attached 2 doze boxes this week - but just now when i went to attach this box, Boinc Mngr then says, "Need version 5.8 or higher of the BOINC core client. You have 5.4."

Any ideas why there's a conflict with Cosmo recognising the current Boinc Mngr running? (v5.4 was uninstalled prior to upgrade)
