I will limit it to 4 cores at a time. As even with 8 cores I get compute errors.
I think because cosmology taxes the CPU more than most other projects, causing the cpu frequency to drop below the speeds it can sustain on a fixed overclocked frequency.

The more single threaded WUs I get from Cosmology, the lower the CPU frequency goes.
From 3,9Ghz on most projects on my 3900x, to 3600Mhz with 24 threads of cosmology.
One or two threads might allow the cpu to maintain the set frequency of 3,8Ghz (I hope).

The only reason why I overclock to manual, is because auto overclock (PBO), causes the CPU to ramp up and down, and causes the power usage to rise (power consumption drops at a fixed overclock, vs rises at a dynamic overclock), plus a fixed overclock allows it to run in higher boost (+50Mhz) over dynamically overclocking.

No!
I'm not even supposed to touch that!
Cosmology needs to make sure if they're sending 24 thread WUs, they actually work on 24 threads!

No, I don't mean 1 WU spread out over 12 CPUs, I mean 1 WU that's optimized for 12CPUs.
Apparently the 24CPU WUs are 1CPU WUs, locking in all my other CPU cores, so projects stalled overnight.
I aborted them all!

Cosmology sends WUs with 24 threads to my Ryzen 9 3900x, but in Htop, it appears they're locking in all CPU cores, but only using 1 core; stalling all my other projects!

Please fix!

Aside from installing boinc, and running Cosmology,
All I need to do is "sudo apt install virtualbox", enable the camb_boinc2docker WUs, and Cosmology will do the rest?

Yeah, but I want more than 8 CPUs.
The website doesn't offer this option.
12-16CPU WUs is ideal for me.
I can set it to unlimited, but can anyone help me in what I have to populate app_config.xml with?

(like name, etc...)?

I don't have Virtualbox installed. Ubuntu natively.
Haven't immediately found any new errors.

Hi,
I got a Ryzen 9 3900x, and for some reason Cosmology downloaded 24 core WUs.
I still need 1 or 2 cores for GPUs.
I saw I can set the CPU count to a max of 8 on my account page on this website.

Can this be updated from 1 to 100?
I would like no more than 22 thread WUs, preferably 16 threads or less.
Thanks,

I can't create or join my team,
If I look for my team name, it can't find it,
if I create it, it tells me captcha is incorrect.
I'm fairly sure that the first captcha I do correct, but it still lets me do another.
The second captcha I also fill out correctly, and then it's showing the green 'V', meaning I passed captcha,
The next link, after continuing to make the team, says 'incorrect captcha', despite captcha clearly saying it was correct!

I noticed Boinc MGR telling me Cosmology had about 8 tasks that had a computation error. Some tasks going as much as 8,5 hours in.
I don't overclock, but the Ryzen 9 is running quite hot doing cosmology tasks (80C) at 65W.
CPU frequency also dropped due to the load on the cpu vs other projects.

Eg: World Community Grid sees +4,11Ghz on all cores, at 68-75C temps.
Cosmology does 3650-3670Mhz at 78-80C temps.

Most of the batches go well, but if it turns out my CPU runs too high, I might need to limit Cosmology tasks on this CPU.

Just a bit annoyed by the fact that I've basically spent processing 8 x 8 hours of tasks for nothing.

I just took it on as a hobby.
Started out with Folding @ home, but after some mean and rude comments of the moderators, left that project behind.
Went to Boinc.
There I did a variety of projects, until I found the Collatz, that could boost my score up to match people who've been crunching for years.
I made rigs specifically for boinc over the years, and re-learned Linux in the process, all as a hobby.

But saw that most GPU projects are meaningless (to me). Calculate prime numbers, Latin squares??
Instead I noticed that most projects (AI, Protein/DNA research/cosmic or science) all used CPUs instead of GPUs.
So I bought myself 2x Ryzen 9 CPUs (12/24 C/t and 16/32C/T), with the sole reason of maximizing the use of this hardware.

Instead of being 99% idle in the 4 year lifespan, I wanted it to be 99% used, while doing something beneficial for mankind.
I'm just a regular clerk, with a hobby.
