Message 1420 - Posted: 23 Jul 2007, 14:29:46 UTC

The sheer volume of posts in this thread is amazing; it took me 15 minutes to read everything!

There are about 3000 left of the bad results. I canceled as many as I could on Saturday, and I tried to get the last remaining ones today. Hopefully, there won't be any more of those going out. So please, NO MORE CANCELING :)

Sorry for the mess guys. I probably should have waited to make the change until today, but I didn't anticipate all of the problems.

Scott perhaps now go back to 20/20/20 or whatever you had the project set at for error/total/success so the overzealous aborters won't trash the new good wu's.

No problem, it is a learning experience for everyone, and you are achieving your goal of having the beta test shake out the bugs so that when the project goes public these issues are avoided! :) And you are more on top of things than many projects have been in the past during their betas!

I put it up to 6 error results and 8 results total now.

I have had several WU's in the series 072107 automatically get 'aborted by project'. This message came up when manually updating Cosmo just a few minutes ago under tasks.

Is this another batch of bad ones?

No, just the last remaining bad WUs that I just canceled.

Scott, I think you may have made a slight typo cancelling work

it looks like you cancelled wu_0721_1* instead of wu_0720_13 / 14 / 15 etcetera

wu_072007_141031_0 should be a duff one so has been aborted twice but ran ok for me.
Similarly wu_072007_141439_1 and wu_072007_151845_0 while Payo72 and myself both completedwu_072007_151029_0 successfully and got credit for it, so not all of the wus from that batch will fail. Ok, I've had my share of ones that went over limit, but I've just let them all run, just in case. Isn't the joy of Alpha in the roulette? Where's that ATA signup?

Surprisingly wu_072107_160010_0 has been cancelled even although it is a new, supposedly fixed one.

Sigh.

It's back to remedial reading comprehension classes for me. Sorry about that. The correct ones have now been canceled.

Just checked my other machines and updated them also manually - they are also getting 'aborted by project' messages for finished work and WU's yet to crunch in the 072107 series.

Yikes, this means that pending credits for wu_072107 will never be awarded.

Yup - I have just had a quick look thru my results and a dozen or so finished or pending have been cancelled - could be more - was just a quick sampling.

Oh well - as said above, we now know Scott can cancel stuff pretty quick if needed in future - just another learning step to beta.

Ah well, we can't complain about some missed credits. We have all been treated *very* well in that area for a couple of weeks ;)

don't want to quote all the good stuff posted in this thread. Just a 'nodding head' here and there while I was reading it.

It's alpha project. That's it. I'm fine with it. I was happy with the info on cancelling, but have stopped cancelling today. Besides, work kept me busy, so I couldn't check on the news.

Anyhow. I had many 'old' wus crash on my linux AMD x2 3800+... thought it was the cpu getting too hot. But the new wus run fine... dunno why... But I'm happy.
