Hello, For some time I have a lot of tasks in error (43) which I did not have before and the number of validated tasks remains the same then new tasks are well validated. My machine ID: 396203 Linux 2.6.32-5-vserver-amd64 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31220 @ 3.10GHz [Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7] (4 processeurs) Please help. Sam. |

That machine has an old version of Linux. I have found on at least one project that updating to the newest version helps. |

Here is the error message: <core_client_version>6.2.14</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> process got signal 11 </message> <stderr_txt> </stderr_txt> ]]> |

Thanks but I can't upgrade this machine, I did not have any problems at first. Thanks anyway for your reply. Sam. |

This error can be caused by the infamous segmentation error. Test your RAM with memtest86+. Additionally, make sure you have sufficient amount of memory available. ![]() |

Thank you, I'm going to do a memory test, I have 16G0 on this machine I think this is enough ... This machine is a virtual machine, I installed Boinc on the host machine that runs on a more recent Debian distribution, I'am testing. Thanks again ! Sam. |

Give us a shout when you find out something. PS I am not VirtualBox specialist but wouldn't be better to run Boinc natively? ![]() |

I am not VirtualBox specialist but wouldn't be better to run Boinc natively? Sure. But their work was created on another OS (usually some version of Linux), and it is not practical to create a version for Windows. So they use VirtualBox, which allows it to run on any OS that can run VB. |

I thought you are running Cosmology on Debian in VirtualBox :-D Even different versions of Linux require VirtualBox to run. Over at LHC, they have developed "native" versions of ATLAS and Theory to run directly on some versions of Linux, but it was not easy. They had to do a lot of work. I think Marius has already explained elsewhere that he finds it easier to just use VB than develop other versions, so I don't think you will see them here. |

I'm having the same problem. Looking at my task history, the last few hundred vbox tasks have all died with computing errors. I watched it happen yesterday; the job only ran for a few seconds before giving up the ghost. They all seem to have the same exit code: -2147221163 (0x80040155) Unknown error code These jobs were running without errors at the beginning of the summer; no software or hardware changes I can think of in that time period. Running Windows 10, 16GB RAM on a pretty beefy custom desktop. I've been running VBOX 5.2 because later versions seem to have timing and communication issues and are more likely to error out. I see several other threads complaining about computation errors. This could be happening to lots of folks who just haven't noticed yet. Help! |

Are you running any other Virtual Box projects successfully? You can try resetting the project but your errors are all problems in creating the VM. Do you have enough disk space, etc. You can also try checking the FAQ section http://www.cosmologyathome.org/faq.php#i-enabled-vt-xamd-v-but-i-still-dont-receive-jobs That may be a factor? |

Okay, I reinstalled VMBox 5.2.28 and the corresponding extension pack and now it seems to run properly. I tried VMB V6.10 again, but got the same problem I used to: "Postponed: VM job unmanageable" V5.2 never had this problem and all versions of V6 seem to have it. Someone told me it's a communication problem between the virtual machine and BOINC. All set, thanks for your help! |

I could not get VirtualBox 6.0.12 (the latest version) to work with Windows 10 Pro either. But VBox version 5.2.32 works OK. |
