Now that we have a new administrator, we are able to make the changes that we\'ve needed for a *long* time. This is a short summary of what we\'ll be doing in the (near) future: 1) No more HR. We\'ll be implementing a system like most other projects where validation consists of a sanity check to make sure there aren\'t any shenanigans going on. There will be no more heaps of pending credit because your WUs haven\'t found a partner yet and more more random invalidation. 2) Better server performance. Now that HR is gone, we can *vastly* reduce the number of results clogging up the database. 3) Less time spent debugging HR is more time spent developing graphics and new applications. 4) We now have access to Macintosh hardware, so a (long overdue) Mac app should be on it\'s way. --- Our goal is to make Cosmology@Home much more user-friendly than it has in the past, so your suggestions are definitely appreciated. --EDIT This was Scott on Anshul\'s account... sorry! |

OK, Anshul. Thank you for promising to definitely appreciate our suggestions. So, please start by paying attention to the many posts (in other threads) that you should keep your word, and keep your promises, to grant all the credits that participants have honestly earned. If you and Ben don\'t keep your promises this time, nobody will believe you on anything else. Thanks. --Bill ![]() |

Sounds good, HR shure has been a pain in the (insert name of any body part you like/or not) for cosmo. HR was working perfectly fine until sometime during the 2.05 -> 2.09 transition. Something that the project did during this timeframe caused things to not function correctly, and they never truly recovered from it. ![]() |

Great news. Hope it all goes smoothly. Any estimate as to when it will all be up and running? |

Feel free to contact me, if you have some questions or problems about the MacOS porting. Do you plan to build a PPC and Intel application ? - It\'s quite easy to cross compile on MacOS Intel to PPC and vice versa. |

12.11.2009 07:41:08|Cosmology@Home|Message from server: (Project has no jobs available) I dunno, but after more than a week, it has to be said: It's just the transitioner. I don't understand why it takes a week to sort out an issue with a software daemon, other than perhaps that they have nobody around to look at the software... Suggestion for Ben, if he is even reading: Try a reboot. If it is a Linux or Unix box, open a Terminal window and type: # /sbin/shutdown -r If there is a GUI equivalent, use it if you are not familiar with the command line. Either way, you'll need root authority, so someone there should have the root password. If not, then you'll need to worry about that I suppose... ![]() |

Anshul, may I suggest that you make good use of the News section of the Home Page. There has been nothing posted there for seven months. When we log on to the site that is one of the first thing we notice. |

I have noticed that the work units are taking 3 times as long to process but there are no more points awarded for them. Is this my machine or is it the result of some change? Mark W. Patton |

This project uses fixed credits for completed work regardless of length of time. Every completed workunit is given 420 credits. This policy was established many months ago. I do not anticipate that this will change anytime soon. |

Uhhhhhhhhhh. Yeah, it seems this place is dead to me? Then again, it's kinda well known how the universe will keep expanding now, right? So why don't the people running this post something? |

That's a good question. From the forums you'd think this project was abandoned, and yet it's still up and running, giving out WUs. |

And a lot of people have a pretty high RAC over here! |
