I had 46 pending units - some dated back to July I only had 4wu\'s pending,... same thing. I thought test wu\'s were supposed to be GUARANTEED credits if we ran them!? A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory |

Same here, all Pending now \"Didn\'t need\". Granted = 0.00 Ben stated on the front news that all these work units would be granted credit at the rate of 140 per work unit. Is this still going to occur or are just going to lose all our credit and have wasted hundreds of hours for nothing, just like before when the project stalled, when I lose 4 pages of completed work units because of an error at the server end and Ben just cancelled them all, credit included saying that we were given a lot of credit before? So what?, we are talking about now. Decisions like this just drive participants away and a good deal of them may not come back, which is not good for the project. |

If credits have been granted, it is not necessarily visible in the result status. It is possible to grant credits to the user accounts without beeing visible in the results list. CPDN does that all the time with the standalone subprojects like Beta and Seasonal Attribution, their credits go into the main project even though the results are not visible there. I have received quite many credits today, not as many as I would have expected from the pending list, but still more than usual. |

This is exactly the reason I only left 1 old box on this project,... They \"burned\" me last time and I really didn\'t want it to happen again! While I do believe in the science, I won\'t be \"burned\" for even 1 more wu.! And no credits were given this time either. A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory |

If credits have been granted, it is not necessarily visible in the result status. It is possible to grant credits to the user accounts without beeing visible in the results list. From what I can tell, my current credit is the same value as the last incremental XML dump. Looking at the task page itself, it does show 120 \"granted credit\", but unless someone hasn\'t fully completed a SQL script and things will show up soon, the tasks seem to have been dumped, even if they were completed and already reported. :sigh: I realized that I would likely get burned when I grabbed some tasks from here by accident rather than from MilkyWay... ![]() |

Take a look at the front page, folks! I\'ve suspended processing and will be doing some maintenance of my own, I think! Phoneman1 P.S. 5.5k total in the pending credits zeroed - worth a lot more... Hey ho! |

Take a look at the front page, folks! \"The first thing will be to clear out the WU queue and start from scratch.\" Clearing out the queue seems to be deleting the queue ... they surely must have made an error, would they just cancel all results and not give any credit for them ? Can\'t believe that to be honoust. ![]() |

Take a look at the front page, folks! The project seems to have a tendency to sledgehammer things. They appear to have not given a date parameter to whatever was done, thus everything got trashed. It would\'ve been absolutely fine to do this to tasks before September 1st...but we got what we got... The real tricky part is that once they fire back up the WU generator, will the system then figure out that those tasks really needed more replications or will it leave them alone and let them be transitioned out? The last time the project used this type of sledgehammering was back in August, and those tasks hung around and even got some additional replications here and there... I\'ll head on back to Milkyway for a few days/weeks... ![]() |

HR or no HR, Ben promised that ALL Test work units would receive credit, with or without a wingman. So I am waiting to see if that promise is upheld and then make a decision about this project, which I do like or at least did until I also got \'burned\' last time. |

Check the announcements thread for an update. As I pointed out in the other thread, HR was working perfectly fine until sometime during the application version 2.05 -> 2.09 transition. Something was done that caused HR to stop behaving properly and/or become too selective / specific on handing out work. As to the credit aspect, I too would tend to agree that a \"in good faith\" effort should be made to give credit to results that had already been completed and reported before the mass-cancelation was performed. We were trying to help the project and thus the project should honor what was said, irregardless of whether or not the thought is that credits were already generous. It is not only about the credit, but about the electricity that was used. I really seriously doubt any real progress has been made and view the announcement as more of a \"we don\'t know what to do, so we\'re scrapping this and trying something different\". It\'s good that they\'re trying a different course, but it should take weeks to get to the point where they are issuing any new work...and even when they do, participants should realize that the new work has a high probability of either failure to execute completely and/or failure to validate. ![]() |

hey all......I just noticed that whoever is in charge just gave us 120 credits for every WU they said they did not need.... check your account...in Cosmo\'s total credit line......you should see a different credit given that is not yet reflected in any BOINC stats yet... like I said, I just worked it backward because I thought it was an error, but it worked out to my 16 WU\'s that said \"didn\'t need\".... |

So, should we just abort the wus still needing crunching? Need a little guidance from the powers above. |

hey all......I just noticed that whoever is in charge just gave us 120 credits for every WU they said they did not need.... Apparently something is going on with your account that is not going on in mine. All values across every site I can find show me at 175,560... Given the past failed SQL updates, it wouldn\'t surprise me in the slightest that some people got adjustments while other people did not... ![]() |

It is interesting if they have given out 120 credits per WU, when the going rate was 140 for the last batch of work units, but I suppose some is a little better than none at all, like we got last time this fell over. I will check my account and see what I have been given. |

As the announcement on the entry page says that the project will start from scratch, I would suppose that all current results will be completely removed or deactivated. I have let those finish that already had more than 50% (on my own risk, just in case) and aborted all those that had not been started yet or had less than 50%. So now I have a few aborted ones, but only 4 finished ones to report. I doubt that the server will still know them when the admins have cleaned up, so the scheduler will probably reject them. I cannot give anyone an official advice here, but better do not start any new results anymore. Pause them or abort them, but don\'t waste your CPU time crunching already dead results. |

check your account...in Cosmo\'s total credit line......you should see a different credit given that is not yet reflected in any BOINC stats yet... My total for Cosmology on my Cosmology account matches that in Boinc Stats. Boinc Stats shows it last got an update from Cosmology at 19:35 utc on October 4th. What is puzzling, I\'ve just checked Stan\'s account on Cosmology (clicked on his name in this thread) that shows 70,230. I checked his stats on Boinc Stats and that shows 70,230 - it has been the same there since October 1st. Next I followed the links in Cosmology to his computer and his tasks. He has 16 tasks marked over and didn\'t need - all with no entry in the credit column. I guess it\'s possible somebody was trying to sort out the credits - realized they got it wrong and rolled it all back?? I doubt that the server will still know them when the admins have cleaned up, so the scheduler will probably reject them. In their current state I doubt anyone will be able to post a result against them. But a few options are open to the project team, so it is anyone\'s guess what will happen when the project restarts. If things are left as they are now we\'ll be in the same boat as last time. Units will come back to life as project housekeeping routines realise there are missing results for units and issue new tasks. If a clean start really is to be made then we won\'t see any tasks for the current work units again. There are, I guess, a few other options but I suspect they all involve a lot more work for the project team. Phoneman1 |

They didn\'t roll it \"all\" back, else we wouldn\'t have traces of it. The difference does come up to exactly 16 * 120, or 1,920... Not sure what all happened. Every time they\'ve tried to adjust credit like this in the past has not gone smoothly... ![]() |
