I just joined today. I notice that cosmoogyathome.org has been operating for more than 5 years. Time enough, I would think, for some results to appear. So, where can I find a summary of what we have learned thus far from all this computing? |

Don't want to offend anyone, but that is an important question and it deserves a qualified answer. I'm a little bit ashamed that my first post after some months of silence has to be a polite rant. (i had some very stressie private problems Faik, sorry for not answering you) But this user "Steve" asks something very important for me (and surely some other volunteers). C@H is (referring to BOINCStats) still one of the ten most popular projects. It has consumed over the years very large amounts of crunching power, electricity and, at least, money of the volunteers. Crunching power invested in C@H was not invested in other projects, projects which follow valuable goals too. I totally agree with everyone who demands knowledge about the status of this project. I would really like to know what we have learned thus far, would like to know which results came from the computed data and how they are used for further work. Actually, we work totally blind. I am aware that this is mainly Bens Job to explain us this things and i am also aware that Ben is a very busy man. And i like Ben. But the truth is, you simply can not run a project for years without delivering such essential project informations. Well, you can, because there will be always enough people who'll be attracted by this fat 420 Creds/WU, but it's not fair against the guys who really want to support the project, because of their interest and enthusiasm for this project itself. I am long enough here and i've read very much of the message board posts of the earlier years, and so i don't really exspect an complete and satisfying answer. But Faik, you could at least answer such questions, even when the answer has to be like "i don't know and Ben doesnt tell me". What do you think does it looks like, when the Word Link Thread is actualized nearly daily, but the important questions stay unanswered/ignored? Best, Dennis ![]() |

Hello Dennis, It is so great to see you back with us! I cannot agree with you more! You guys have worked very hard for Cosmology@Home and you do deserve to know where the project is standing. What I can tell you is that I do read you questions and that I do forward the ones I cannot answer to Professor Wandelt. This one he is the only person who can answer accurately. I will forward this to him and let you know when I hear back from him. Best wishes, Faik --- Member of The C@H Team! Hey Faik, i was never really away, although i have switched some machines meanwhile. I just had some tricky situations with Mrs.Cykodennis, so i had not so much attention for communicate more than necessesary. Well, i am sure that Ben will at least understand our wish für informations. The C@H Community is a silent volunteer community, without any real smell of "attention whoreness", but we shouldn't forget that especially a project named "cosmology@home" attracts surely some people, who are very curious in the topic itself. ![]() |

Dear Dennis, Professor Wandelt has just written a detailed report (please see the Announcements page). I hope that this answers at least some of your questions. Best wishes, Faik --- Member of The C@H Team! |
