I used to be a keen Cosmology@Home member, but I hate the credit system on this project, having 420 credits however long or short it may be. It`s a stupid system, and I don`t know any other project that uses it.
I`d love to come back to Cosmo, but I will not be doing so until the credit system is changed.

I know you will do your best for us Scott. Thanks.

Detaching and then reloading hasn\'t solved the glitch either, so suspending the project here :(

Nope, neither has re-booting, or resetting the project. It all seems to be the \'051...\' work units, I still have some of the \'050...\' and they\'re fine.

I\'m not suspending, leaving them all open if the problem is resolved quickly enough I won\'t miss a beat.

The lack of stats output is another issue too.

If we abort the 051s and we don`t get any more WUs, we`ll be out in the cold, and won`t get any credits from.
I think I`ll just carry on and see what happens.

I have a known problem with main rig which causes the PC to crash.
When I boot up again, I find that any Cosmo WUs currently running, even any which are nearly finished, they go back to zero%.
This is losing hours of crunching time.
WUs on other projects are not affected.
I am using Windows Vista, and BOINC Manager v.5.8.16, as it is the latest version which automatically resets itself.

With a fixed credit system, why do we need pending credits at all when we know the result will be 50 credits?
Using a quorum of 1, all pending credits could be instantly granted.

9) Forums : General Topics : Max of 25WU/host is a bit low on fast machines (Quads...) without 24/7 connections (Message 2115)
Posted 18 Aug 2007 by Profile UBT - Rick Horn
Post:
7/19/07 @ 04:08 PM CST - The maximum number of results in progress per host has been lowered to 25 in preparation for the longer WUs. This will disrupt the flow of shorter WUs temporarily, but the problem will end when the shorter WUs run out and the longer ones take over.

A teammate of mine has problems with the maximum number of WUs, as he's not online 24/7, though his Quad crunches 24/7. He likes to shut down his router and modem while out of house, and the 25 WUs are gone like nothing on a quad, they never take the 12 - 15h he would like to cover.

Is there a possibility to increase this amount a bit, or, at least to make it 25 per core, not per host?

Presumably the 25 WU restriction is because of a limited supply of WUs being generated. Users with multiple hosts obvious have an advantage, where as users with a single multicore host miss out.
Perhaps the fairest way of distributing WUs might be to allocate a daily maximum per user.

Of the seven new longer WUs I crunched overnight, only one was valid. The other six were marked as computer error.
I have two questions. Are these WUs checkpointed, and will we be getting any credit for obviously faulty WUs.

I`m finding I can only download one wu at a time, and then I need to detach and reatach to the project to get another wu, despite increasing my cache.

Which client version are you using? What operating system are you using?

Sysfried

I`m using 5.8.16 which was working fine on Cosmology before the weekend.
All my other projects are normal. I`m using windows vista os.
