In the mean time, these tasks can be run to completion (if you have the memory available).

I love to support Cosmo@Home and I have the RAM avail, but sorry, nope, not going to happen. Please clean out the available workunits.

Thank you very much.

Cheers,

Sysfried.

Could we get an official feedback on this? I'm still on no new workunits... I'm afraid this is some kind of bug and I'd be wasting my time and energy.

I don't have a problem with the RAM size, but I do have to complain about the "claimed vs. granted"

http://cosmologyathome.org/workunit.php?wuid=6279002
380 claimed vs. 140 granted.

That's a "no new WUs" for me.

I\'m pretty sure UWM has things called computers, and they\'re most likely connected to something called \"The Internet\". In case you weren\'t aware, you can use those computers that are connected to \"The Internet\" to look at web pages, just like this one. Had you been aware of these amazing technological developments, you would have been able to look at this page, and even post a message saying \"Hey, I\'m out of town and I\'ll be sure to have a look at it on Monday. Until then, hang in there\".

LOL! Amazingly to the point.

Scott is one of the BOINC Project Admins that really does care. Give him a break!
I\'m sure many members which have been here for a while will agree. Scott is taking care and will fix it. He always did!

Best wishes,

Can anyone confirm this?

when visiting http://cosmologyathome.org from a new pc (I got forwarded to that URL from the old uiuc.edu bookmark I use) I was asked to log in using my credentials.. which I did and then ended up at:
http://home.php which turned out to be an error, of course...
Pushing the \"back\" button once got me to:
http://cosmologyathome.org//home.php which did work....

Best wishes,

I know this might be a little bit off-topic, but I think the support for GPU processing is also very interesting.... Although I have no idea on whether the CAMB codebase would benefit from it at all...

Yeah, I know about this. I\'ve made a couple of half-hearted attempts to fix it, but I haven\'t been able to dedicate any real time to it due to my finals this week.

I\'ll be done tomorrow night, though. Interestingly enough, my last final is in my Introduction to Cosmology class.

Good luck on your finals then. :-)

MAybe I missed something but I thought we had a limit of 25 WUs per computer that we could have in our queue. I have about 40 right now. (not complaining) Just wondering if I missed something.

It changed when Scott changed the sever version fri-sat...I noticed the same thing 40 unfinished results per host now.

I think 40 WUs are ok... :-)

my 2 cents...

Personally I think Scott has the Alpha project running remarkably smooth compared to others I will not mention.:) As for lost credits, it is Alpha guys,,,,lighten up.

agreed! :-)

I sure can live with the loss of credits... because it's not a loss it simply a lack of granted credits.. *g*

thanks for the update, Scott, but I still have tons pending... somehow only 1/5th got cleaned out of my pending list (10k pending down to 8k pending)

most wus now say: didn't need on the wu which was not yet sent yesterday.

regards,

sysfried

ps: I hope this "cut out" won't turn into a loss of aprox. 20k credits for me...

good night.

No work from project.

Why not?

Looks like we need to upgrade the points from 50 to 60 to compensate :)

I don't agree here!

50 is OK!

Regards,

Sysfried

Why Sysfried? You seem to be a quorum of one wanting to downgrade the points allowance.

Dear vaughan.

I think it wouldn't make sense to get a compensation in terms of credits to handle times without workunits.

BOINC and the projects that are using the platform should not start a contest on where you get more credits for the same work done. This project is in alpha stage, so a time without workunits should not need to be compensated.

I've been attracted by projects that grant more credits for the same time spent on my cpu, but this is wrong if you ask me. I'm speaking for myself here.

50 credits per wu are just fine at the moment, no need to compensate here.

If you think differently, well, I don't have a problem with that. You posted your opinion and I replied with mine.

Have a great weekend,

Sysfried

Under the 'Task' tab, the 'Progress' bar, neither the data or the graphic, is working in BOINC gui Manager V 5.10.20 on Win XP Pro, nor is the 'To completion' time updating.

It works fine with SETI@home.

K.

This issue is known.

Cosmo @ Home is still in alpha stage and the Progress Bar is not yet implemented, neither does the app have a graphic working.

I'm not getting work on my Win32 Athlon X2.

What I think is happening now.... The scheduler can't send out the "unsent" workunits due to some reason. That's the reason why we all have so many pending workunits. Scott will have to find out why the so far "unsent" workunits aren't being sent out right now....

This is quite interesting for me... ATA... :-)

Have a lovely weekend everyone...

1) I'm not going to create any more WUs for at least 24 hours, if not longer. There will probably be a dry-spell for a while as the supply dwindles, but let's see if we can't put a dent in the pending count =)

2) Open beta: it's coming soon, trust me. The only real hurdle is the release of the stand-alone CAMB app, which is currently working for Linux, but not Windows (compiling it is turning out to be difficult).

However, this doesn't mean that we can't start accepting new users. In fact, whenever anybody sends me an email looking for an invite, I let them in. So, please, feel free to let anybody you like into the project. Don't bother to to have them ask me for the invite code: just give it to them yourselves. If you don't remember what the invite code is, PM me or one of the mods.

1) I'd suggest at least 72 hours to see the effect kick in.
2) thanks for the info.

I like this limiting idea. This is my first post here, occasioned by my finding, as of 8:00 this morning, that of my 198 finished WU's, 98 are "pending". Some have been in this state for several days. This is not so good.

Not sure I understand "wingpersons" and other niceties of homo-whatever redundant stuff, but it looks like the ball is being dropped. My laptop, with an AMD Turion X64 times 2 has sent in 24 results since I attached it yesterday, with credit on one WU. I am cultivating patience.

Yes :D I do understand about New Projects. (That's why I have only 5 boxen on it.) Our mission here is to point out those things that aren't going to fly in a production environment, yes? In production, this behavior will have crunchers voting with their feet.

If I understand "wingpersons" right, it would mean the following:

you have one machine that crunches away as much as possible... you get mostly pending credits. you check on the wu's and find that it's almost always the same host someone else owns who's not yet returned his wus.
so once your "wingman" returns his wus, you get all your credit at once.
I've seen that happen to many of my (mostly identical) hosts as well...
once the last host flushes, the other hosts get credit.... oh well.

sysfried

my pending has almost reached 10.000 credits claimed now.

I vote for no new workunits to be generated by Scott until all current workunits are at least sent out.

I know that some pending is regular, but I have way more pending at cosmo with old wus still unsent than with any other project I've participated so far.

Sysfried
