Hi everyone, there's something wrong with the camb_legacy tasks, possibly related to a recent upgrade. I've temporarily disabled them (no validation, no new workunits created) until I can figure out the problem. The camb_boinc2docker application is still working normally.

You stated the above on 25 Jun. On 16 Jul you stated that the problem is complicated and not yest fixed. . At this date the validator is still turned off and the pendings are climbing. Why are you issuing work units and wasting our time when in your own words something is wrong and you do not know how to fix it obviously.

I am sorry to use this tone of voice but your interaction with volunteers have never been very informative. I would have expected that once you state in the News that you disable the WU, I would expect that you announce in the News that it is working again. I see in the server that there is no Docker units being worked on yet legacy units are still being issued.

Credits here are ridiculous to compare with other project.

Also, apologies I've not solved the camb_legacy issues yet, its proving somewhat difficult. I will get it sorted it out but in the meantime I encourage everyone to take a look at running camb_boinc2docker jobs which are of more use to us scientifically anyway.

It seems to me that you are not interested in volunteers and their problems. It costs us a lot of money to run your research and if you choose to use Credit New or as some will say Credit Screw than that is a sure way of loosing customers. You have other choices to use. Look at other projects, talk to their Admin to see what is best for all concerned.

At this moment you are still advocating (as stated four days ago and I see no change to that statement, to use Docker jobs.) The problem is that you are not generating work for Docker and the validator for legacy is turned off, yet jobs are available for legacy jobs and the pendings are increasing. Have you actually fixed the problem?

It might be that docker WU's would validate quickly as someone said but NO work is issued for that. As far as the other sub-project is concerned the server states "script_validator not running" and there are thousands waiting to be validated. AFAICS it is not Boinc Formula problem or one that is caused by them.
5) Forums : General Topics : Appeal to Project Managers (Message 20248)
Posted 3 Jul 2015 by Profile Cruncher Pete
There are a number of reasons why Volunteers give up their time, machines and pay high electricity prices in order to support your project. Some project managers spend a lot of time in maintaining the project and communicating with their user database. Unfortunately, there are some who do not appear to care about their users and fail to advise them of what is going on.

The purpose of the thread is to appeal to those project managers that do not make good use of the provided "NEWS" option in the BOINC project software to keep the user base up to date of project developments. Short items could be posted here of impending Downtime's necessary for maintenance, Work Unit issues like impending shortage due to implementation of new ones or cessation of issue of WU's due to some reason. The positive of using this method of Communication is that users can make good use of the RSS feed option and be warned to adjust their machines accordingly, rather than be idle and just give money to the Power Companies. It is understood that some Project have not updated their software for some time for a variety of reasons. It is also known that some projects have altered the software for their own needs and use of this feature might not be available or incompatible. If that is the case, than please consider alternative methods of communicating. For example there is the option to use the "Notices" whereby users get notified by the provided option in the BOINC Software they are using. Failing that, there is also the option to write a short email of impending issues to either the Official BOINC Forum or BOINCStats. Consider that information of a general nature posted in your Message Board might be hidden and gets lost amongst a multitude of other issues that is written in a Message Board and is time consuming to read all the posts of all projects.

Whilst I can not speak for anybody else, I can say this. The cost of Electricity is going up and up and it is not sustainable any longer to just set and forget a number of projects. One need to choose carefully which project you wish to follow and why. Obviously, if the Project Managers do not spend much time in talking to their user database and keeping them current as to what is going on in their project than they are likely to loose support from me and other like minded users. I appeal that you review the amount of time and method you use to communicate with your users. I might even be blunt..If you have no time to talk to us than you do not deserve our support.

Anshul, may I suggest that you make good use of the News section of the Home Page. There has been nothing posted there for seven months. When we log on to the site that is one of the first thing we notice.

In the Top Participants I am listed twice at position 60 and 61 respectively. The total credits and RAC\'s are close but not the same.
I can live with this, just wondering why the duplication?

EDIT X2: I just noticed that the progress indicator jumps suddenly to 100%. Can anyone tell me from which percentage does it jump?

I am running 4 quads. In all instances, the progress bar appeared to work up to 16%. At this point the progress bar is not incrementing and the To Completion bar is increasing instead of decreasing..
