This is still happening. Is there a reason why the tags are renewing themselves? It seems the magical number is around 45 days of age that the read/unread tage resets itself.

Every so often when I come to the boards I will see unread posts that I have already read. Whole threads that are months old are being marked as unread, including the stickies.

All of the old threads are marked as unread for me even though I know I have read them. Is there some work being done to the boards?

Keep up the good work and enjoy the holidays.

The Reset button is our friend. With the new Server SW it even re-loads the tasks we were assigned.

Really? Will it reload the download error ones as well? Please tell us more about this nice feature.

What can I say that hasn\'t been said already? Communication is key. A project lives and dies by the amount of communication between the admin and the volunteers.
No communication and the project will falter, it might survive but it will not blossom into a great project.
Censored communication will falter the project as other projects have done and lost their volunteers.
Great communication will make the project grow. New users coming into the BOINC community will learn from all of the banter and old timers get to share their knowledge and experience. Of course the admin benefits from all of the shared knowledge and processing power.

I am a Biomedical Site Manager – CBET as my profile states. Basically, I maintain the operating functionality of all medical equipment within a hospital. I do consider myself unique in the fact that I am the only one at this hospital that performs this duty. Please Google Biomedical for more info.
“The Biomed is the unseen help for the physician and the unknown hope for the patient.”

I started participating in BOINC from the SETI days then moved on to the other projects when they started up. I am a silent member of ATA but do point out a few faults every once in awhile. I enjoy the work that is being done and plan on crunching for Cosmo for a long time.

If these personal notes from the volunteers inspire somebody to start a new project then the ATA group will find it. If these personal notes are used for a publication that gets more users to join BOINC then it will all be worth it. Every little bit counts and will be used for the greater good.

6) Forums : Technical Support : WU using an insane amout of RAM ? (Message 4078)
Posted 26 Nov 2007 by Profile Barbud [USA]
Post:
How ever I don\'t like that BOINC uses that much of my RAM, since even if it is has a low level CPU priority, it still stalls your computer as it steals too much RAM.

You could set the preferances so that BOINC only uses a small percentage of memory while the computer is in use. Then when the computer is not in use it can RAMp up the amount of memory used. I have several computers (dual core, P4 w/HT and AMD3200+) and I have noticed on occasion the computers do get a little slow sometimes. Depends on what I am doing along with which projects are krunching at the moment. It usally only takes me a second or two to put BOINC in snooze mode until I finish what I\'m doing.

Do not leave a project simply because of the performance loss. Customize the projects to your preferances and enjoy. There are some really old computers out there that are running BOINC.

Please post with your CAMB 2.00 experiences now.

I still had a 1.27 running when I got the blue screen on a Vista box because of a USB-Serial adapter failure. After reboot I checked Boinc and it showed the 1.27 wu_102307_201948_4_0 'waiting to run'. Another project(TLP) was running. When it switched back to the cosmo WU the CPU time reset back to 0 but the progress stayed at 12.000% with an increasing completion time.

Boinc just downloaded a 2.00 wu so I will keep an eye on that one as well.

Keep up the good work Scott.

Windows users can find their uptime by typing 'systeminfo' (without the quotes) from a command prompt.

"Systeminfo" did not work on my XP home system. But by running command "net statistics server" it told me the date of the last startup.

I'm currently at 20 days. Which was the last time M$ release a major update.

Well, I can say that it doesn't have anything to do with the older WU's since I just got the code and signed up and within 5 minutes I had a result download, fail, upload and another download, fail before I could suspend the project. The errors are the same:
