Hello C@H members! Dr. Jatila Van Der Veen has directed me to a website where I could find update about the Planck Mission. The website is being regularly updated with cool images and animations, and I find it highly educational. Here is the link: http://sci.esa.int/science-e/www/object/index.cfm?fobjectid=31075&farchive_objecttypeid=18,19,22&farchive_objectid=30912&fareaid_2=17 Best, Faik --- Member of the C@H Team! |

Thanks Faik - since this is a long link to copy or retype, here is a clickable version of this link to Planck-related videos and images. Check out the BBCode tags (for a short description click on the left of the field where you edit your post) to see how to include clickable links in your posts - you use the [url=...] [/url]tag. Best, Ben Edit: I just realized that code is shown black on black - I'll update the style of the website to show it in yellow. Edit: Done. Creator of Cosmology@Home |

Hello C@Homers, Here is a nice BBC article on the Planck Mission. The article discusses background information as well as recent developments in a non-technical way. Faik --- Member of the C@H Team! |

Major coming milestones: Early 2012: Release of a set of Planck papers focussed on Galactic and extragalactic science. Early 2013: Public release of Planck data and products, together with a set of papers focussed on cosmology and the data products. The full schedule for the mission is here. Follow-up of clusters: The final results from the XMM-Newton validation follow-up of new Planck cluster candidates is presented in a recent paper by the Planck Collaboration. These results illustrate the potential of the all-sky Planck survey to detect the most massive clusters in the Universe. •Press release: On Thursday 21 March 2013, the main scientific findings from the European Space Agency’s Planck spacecraft will be announced at a press briefing to be held at ESA’s Headquarter in Paris. Simultaneously with this event, data products and scientific papers based on the “nominal” operations period will be made public through the Planck Legacy Archive. Source: the Plank Mission website.
