Stop usinStop using *.chk for "Chekpoint Files" !!!
ON (FAT16, FAT32 & NTFS this file type is reserved for chkdsk utility)!
Move to using "*.chkp" instead. Adding one letter is all you need.
So far I have not had any trouble with this, as all longtime users know that *.chk files in FAT32 (and even FAT16) are supposed to all go to ROOT aka C: , D: ... Z: of any drive (and A: & B: for the floppy drives).
However, novice users may not know this -- SO IT IS A DANGEROUS SOFTWARE ENGENERRING PRACTICE.
For Linux and Mac OS X.## ... it does not matter. But use .chkp for them too...
