it seems my host 1016 is flying solo, as none of the workunits issued to it so far have had a second result generated/issued.
If this is caused by a need to issue results to hosts with similar cpu's, feel free to add the Athlon MP to the same list as the Athlon XP's, as they are the same cpu's, only difference is that the MP is capable of running in an SMP system.

AMD Athlon(tm) MP 2400+ [x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1]

Done. Athlon MPs should now be recognized as Athlon XPs. I'm not sure how this is going to work out for the results you've already completed though. They might all just... go away.

We'll see what happens, though.

Message 1080 - Posted: 16 Jul 2007, 18:38:51 UTC

Still seeing the same symptoms as before on host 1016, while the work on my Athlon XP's is sent out to two hosts.
Already detached/attached the host to see if it makes any difference, but it didn't :-(

Ugh, sorry, it looks like I need to pay more attention. There was a line, literally right under the line I changed, that already dealt with Athlon MPs. I've deleted the line, so things should be OK now.

Sorry for the confusion.

did you reload the config after the changes or is it supposed to do so on the fly?

It wasn't a matter of changing the config files; I had to make a minor change to the hr.C file in the boinc source. I then recompiled the feeder and brought it over to the project folder.

I assume you changed the line
if (strcasestr(host.p_model, "MP"))  return AMDAthlonMP;

to read
if (strcasestr(host.p_model, "MP"))  return AMDAthlonXP;

which should work, considering my host is sending
<p_ncpus>2</p_ncpus>
<p_vendor>AuthenticAMD</p_vendor>
<p_model>AMD Athlon(tm) MP 2400+ [x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1]</p_model>
<p_features>fpu tsc sse 3dnow mmx</p_features>

in it's sched_request_cosmos.astro.uiuc.edu_cosmohome.xml, but somehow it seems the results are not being sent to other hosts

I think I figured it out. The database had stored your p_model string, so I modified it to reflect it's new classification. It should work now.

I saw this thread and checked my own Athlon XP and found that it is also "flying solo". This is a Barton 2500, AuthenticAMD, AMD Athlon(tm) [Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0]. I am running Ubuntu 7.04, with the latest kernel 2.6.20-16-generic SMP.

Now that I am back home, I thought I would provide a little more info about the processor. If I was not clear about it before, this is an Athlon XP 2500+ with a Barton core. Here is the cpuinfo file:

OK. For better or worse, I made all Athlons that don't specifically contain XP/MP/64/etc equate to an AthlonXP.

Hopefully this works out.

I will reattach the computer to the project when I get home tonight. Will the other pending wu be cross-checked, or are those lost?

not sure about this project, but over at Leiden Classical they are eventualy (2 weeks to a month later) issued to the same host a second time to reach quorum.

[EDIT]
Scott, right now I am receiving results created before the changes, but I'll keep my eye open for results with a creation date/time after your post (roughly 18 Jul 2007 14:00:00 UTC)

host 1016 still seems to be in a class of it's own for some reason,
it is even getting the occasional "Message from server: (there was work but it was committed to other platforms)".
I put it on "no new work" for now untill there is a next step to test.

Is the platform determination of a host done on every contact or is it only done when a host attaches for the first time?

Try detaching and reattaching and see if that makes a difference?

My AMD turion X64 laptop is in the same boat, in that every WU is going in to pending and not being sent out to another cruncher.

Computer No is 710.

Any help in getting the credit for these WU's would be appreciated, as I wondered why I was slipping backwards in world rankings, and I started to cry ....

Thanks

Perhaps it could be put in the same HR class as Athlon 64 / X2 and even Opteron? They're the same family...
