And by that, I mean, I have counted a total of two users who said they were quitting.

I suspect there are more, but why does this generate kicks?

Tomorrow expire jobs processed before the 10 days for Cosmology @ Home. If the job does not send, then goodbye Cosmology @ Home.

Undoubtly a really necessary information for the urgent problems thread.
I'm sure, the crew will now work till they bleed, to rescue both of your processed WUs...

Does the server still sending out wu's?

If it does would not that mean that all wu's that are not reported back before deadline will be sent out again?

When I look at the 'Server status page' it says 'Results ready to send 22'.
I take that as the server are still sending out workunits and among them
workunits that already are done but cant be reported back because of the current problems with the file system.

If that is the case a lot of volunteers work is wasted. Why do you not stop the server from sending out workunits as long as you can't receive the finished files?

Just came to report the same thing. I set my preferences down to 1 from 100. No point in wasting the clock cycles to process jobs than might be dumped in two weeks. I'll change it back when I notice the problem is fixed. I am guessing I'll have to notice based on the the relevant communication to date.

I suppose I should repurpose the device that I needed but have been putting off wiping because of this problem. It's a loss of a few dozen wu--and a major inconvenience to have waited this long to do it.

Based on upthread comments, I guess a few people will get their "kicks" over this.

I can tell you that workunits that miss their deadline are send out again to other clients.

So the best thing to do would be to not accept work until this get fixed.

As I suspected. I have set Cosmo on "Won't get new tasks" in the Boinc manager on my computers so it doesn't matter for me but others that have not done likewise and are still running the project will cause the workunits to be sent out and processed again and again as long the server are unable to receive files but are able to send out workunits. This is a complete waste of voluntary recourses and is to be careless with your voluntary participants. Faik! Way haven't you stop the server from sending out workunits while you are waiting for the current problem to be fixed?

There seems to be no "over and over again" in this project. No workunit will be processed twice as the workunit source file seems to be removed after the first delivery (that's where all those download errors on replacement deliveries come from).

"No response" results (timeout) might fail with "too many total/error results" though, caused by the results with 404 error.

To Tomas,

I have been recieving 'out of work' messages from the server since day two of the upload issue so to me, this suggests Cosmo have stopped sending out WUs. I dont see why you would get any different.

I got six tasks waiting to upload. All were completed with over a week to spare but are now all past the deadline by a couple of days. I was going to switch to no new tasks but the server refused WUs anyway so I never bothered.

Im frustrated as everyone else as Cosmo is set as my top project but these things happen and if you cannot be physically at the server, they are impossible to fix.

Because the message on the server page on 18 February was 'Results ready to send 22'. The server seams to have some wu's for downloading from time to time but according to Ananas it is not wu's that has ben timed out.

Is that so? If you look at this workunit as S@NL - Mellowman posted before it looks as it is processed a second time, the status says "In progress" and not "Error while downloading"

"in progress" means, that the client has not reported anything yet. The next contact of that host will show what's going on :-)

p.s.: This is what it usually looks like. One timeout (or crashed or aborted), then a few download failures.

p.p.s.: Hmmm, I checked a few more, it seems that both situations can occur now, I have downloaded one re-delivered result successfully. A bit surprising for me :-/

What are you saying? Can a download error show upp both as Status = "In progress" and Status "Error while downloading"?????

Not both, no.

"In progress" means, the server knows nothing about the result state yet.

After the download error occurs, only the BOINC client on user side knows about the problem. As long as that host does not contact the project at least once (to report and/or fetch work) after the download error, the result stays "In progress".

Well, providing computer 131173 in the example S@NL - Mellowman posted before is on line which is usually the case

it should not be a download error on his copy of Workunit 10948256. If it shows up later as "Completed and validated" we will know for sure.

I have the same problem as the above poster. It seems there is a problem with the database.
