Message 7712 - Posted: 15 Dec 2008, 9:12:57 UTC - in response to Message 7711.

I would guess that this has been posted before but ADD means that there is no way I am reading through all of it looking for an answer. LOL.

Just thought I should point out that I have been getting a few of these:

Workunit Details

I am computer 37048.

Anyway, from my end, it doesn’t matter since I got replacement wu’s right away but just in case this is new, I am posting it here.

Kinda hate that it is listed as “client error” tho! :P

[EDIT] Don\'t know if it matters, but here is the error message:

12/15/2008 1:48:38 PM Giving up on download of params_120308_161723_0.ini: file not found

[/EDIT]

thanks. :)

I am also having the downloading error.

Same downloading issue here:

wuid=5338084
wuid=5338163
wuid=5319044
wuid=5298273

All have been cancelled due to too many error results, all are CAMB 2.15.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, I just hit one of those faulty-download WU\'s too. Every so often we get bombarded by a batch of bad WU\'s. At least they\'re erroring out right away instead of getting stuck at around 19% downloaded this time. Just keep trying. Eventually you\'ll get ahold of some normal WU\'s. My computer grabbed 2 WU\'s that were just fine right after it happened. I wouldn\'t worry about it too much since this seems to happen on a pretty regular basis.

I wonder if they are running into a disk space problem and the file does not get created.

Looks like nothing has changed since I posted this.

At least we don\'t have to abort the downloads and it is only a tiny bit of bandwith that is wasted. I don\'t know if the units are re-sent under a different ids later, if they aren\'t then the science will suffer.

No I was getting file not found when I wrote that in January 2009. Before sometime in November it was the HTTP error that required the aborting of the transfers.

It appears work units starting with wu_021709 only checkpoint every half
hour or more. This causes them to start over at the last checkpoint anytime the WU gets preempted by another task from other projects. Should the WU\'s checkpoint more often?

The newest WUs I got were very strange:
12787402, 12787400, 12787399, 12787372, 12787357

They finished after about 500 sec, got validated and received 360 credits each.
Something went incredibly wrong here. Cosmo was always granting too many credits, but this is outrageous.

These are \"test\" units (see front page latest news) which are rewarded with 3x the normal.
Since they take (from my one experience) less than a tenth of the usual time to complete I am inclined to share your view that too many credits are being awarded!

My experience of some recent test units is that they locked up two of my crunchers for several hours,
they appear on my tasks list as zero time used, but thats not what realy happened,
so the extra credit for the one that is valid is nice to have,
I was considering stopping running test units because of the crash test dummy that fell on my cpu`s,
I shal crunch onward,
I will keep a more regular check on cosmo until tests are compleated.

Why is it you\'re always complaining about overpaying, but you don\'t go to underpaying projects and do the same? There were only 500 of these test tasks, very few people are participating in this project now because of the prior problems, and the project is BETA (thus the problems). Due to not knowing how long it might be before someone noticed that the first run of test_camb 1.04 was crashing immediately, I had turned off test applications for my account, so I didn\'t get any of those high paying tasks. Should I whine about it???

Get over this obsession, ok?
