Belated Happy Thanksgiving back at ya. I have enough turkey left over to last until next Thanksgiving, though...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

I swear the server is lonely when we leave, pouts and decides to have hardware problems...

It\'s good to be back up!

Hopefully the teething problems with our new validator can be resolved quickly (Scott is helping Anshul, who is still figuring out his way around BOINC and Cosmology@Home but who should be taking over the day-to-day running and development).

I was up in Canada, visiting the Perimeter Institute, giving a talk on the work I\'ve done with my student Rishi Khatri on how to detect whether the constants of Nature are changing and on our test of certain predictions of superstring theory.

All the best,

Ben

Welcome back!

What is the Perimeter Institute? I have never heard of it before.

Is this meeting in Canada involved in any way with what you are doing here at Cosmology@Home?

I look forward to hearing more about it!

Check it out. It\'s a very cool place, funded by an incredible private donor, philanthropist Michael Lazaridis, the CEO of Research in Motion (think Blackberry). He is an enthusiast for fundamental physics and his goal was to create the ideal work environment for theoretical physicists.

Here\'s the website. Have a look - it\'s pretty spectacular.

All the best,

Ben

A special greeting to all participants in Cosmology@Home!

I am excited about next year for Cosmology@Home, with new vigour, new funding, new ideas and new opportunities. I look forward to what we can achieve together.

Whatever you have planned, may your holidays exceed your expectations; and may your year 2009 be happy, healthy, and successful!

My very best wishes -

Ben

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish Dr. Wandelt, and all of his crew (as well as all my fellow CosmologyAtHome crunchers) a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
