Same on Vista - 32 bit. The downloads were blocking the other project getting work so I\'ve aborted them and set NNW on Cosmology. I will check again tonight.

Yeah, I just got up this morning to find that one has been trying to download most of the night to my home machine with continual http errors.

I\'m aborting the download, but I\'ll see what happens when the client tries to get another task.

Exactly the same thing happens. It gets (according to the client) 0.36 KB into the download (always 19.06%) and fails.

This looks like an issue with the http server.

I\'ve just tried a detatch and re-attach (both via BAM!). Downloaded all the other files OK inluding the exe but still fails on parms.ini files though.

Weren\'t these .ini files going to be renamed on the next re-write of the code (due to the problems they cause with restores). I\'m just wondering if the names have been changed in some places but not everywhere???

Incidentally I see from the my logs I downloaded 4 successfully around 05:00utc today. First problem with downloading the ini files was at 05:36:38 utc today. Every attempt since has failed. I\'ve gone back to NNW for now.

I just was able to download 3 tasks without HTTP problem, maybe the problem is solved ? ...or I just was lucky to get through with an old WU...

It is now possible to download wu\'s succesfully. I am crunching one as a test to see if any errors occur and they get proper credit.

Seems the fix of the Download was only from short duration, beside the deja vu Cosmo@home message \'no work send\' here we go again :

I had a number of downloads stall at the 19% mark for I don\'t know how long, seeing as I was away.
Since I got back they have not moved so I have Reset the project and that at least removed those failed downloads.

On retrying for new work, well nothing happened, I just got the common message that \"there was work but it was committed to other platforms\".

I was busy for this weekend, but I finally noticed that the project folks \"think\" that it\'s supposed to be working correctly. (Silly me, I assumed things would be working once I stopped getting constant http errors on downloads)

I only have access to a couple computers over the weekend, but the http error downloading never cleared on it\'s own. I finally manually aborted the transfer on the two machines I can access and I guess I\'ll be doing the same on 13 more tomorrow. :P

Same here. I have 41 WUs which don\'t finish downloading the params*.ini files. All are stuck at about 19%, and theres no progress for a few days now. The messages always say: \"Temporary failed download of [filename]: http error\"

Is there any way to fix this without loosing the WUs? They all would have deadline until October 20th, so i still could finish them if I would get the missing files downloaded.

I have tried two methods to solve this problem and not loose the WU - neither worked!

1) Used Boinc View and selected a transfer (within transfer tab) and pressed the retry button.

2) Used Boinc Manager and did the same.

On each try it would go to just over 19% and then stop.

You are welcome to try but I doubt it will work.

The alternative is to to abort the transfer (using another button on the same tab in either program). The task will then need to be reported. At the moment that isn\'t working due to a problem at the server, so you can\'t report the aborted task and you can\'t get others. The work units themselves, once successfully reported, will get re-issued to other people providing they haven\'t been issued more times than the limit (currently 4).

My inclination would be to re-try two or three tasks and if that fails abort the lot. Try one report of the aborted tasks and let BOINC automatically report them at varying intervals until successful.

If each of your machines is processing other projects, when Cosmology starts downloading work again BOINC will increase the number of Cosmology tasks downloaded to make up for the reduced number you are processing this week. If you have a machine dedicated to Cosmology only, I would add another project until the Cosmology system is stable again.

After trying to abort the downloads for days, I\'ve finally been allowed to do that. I was given messages that they were no longer needed. Sheesh.

Hooray!

Well, here we go again.

I got another download - well, most of it.

21/10/2008 6:34:33 AM|Cosmology@Home|Temporarily failed download of params_101008_113406_1.ini: HTTP error

This is the second day trying.

I\'ve had three of these in the last three days. I\'ve given them one manual re-try and then aborted them. All have been stuck around 19.01% of download. Filenames have been params_101008_xxxxxx_x.ini or 101208 indicating they are hung over from last week. I don\'t know if there was a slight change to server code that might result in this or not but there is plenty of other work to be had at the moment.

Hi Ralph,
We have removed all the old WUs from July, 072408_184017_1_5_> and have generated new ones. I believe Scott gave everyone their due credit for the WUs they handled so in case you have not got credit for these jobs let me know.
Also, we are trying to figure out why so many people are having trouble downloading the new WUs and will let you know as soon as the issue is fixed. I understand that Cosmo@home has been very buggy lately but thats why I\'m here - to get it running smoothly again. Please give me a little time to figure everything out. Thanks!

Anshul

Is this problem limited to WUs from last week? The only work my machine has been receiving are from the week and they\'ve all worked fine for me.

Are your machines only receiving work from last week or do you get a mix?

We may just have to purge the old WUs (there are about 1000 of them versus around 15000 that we created recently), but we want to get a handle on how wide-spread the problem is.
