Ah well... it was a thought. :\\ I have them so rarely, I got excited. ;) Everything I\'ve gotten for 3 days has ended in _2 and when I looked, every time they were created (and issued to me) very shortly (about 1 hour, I think) after the deadline of another task in the WU. ![]() |

Well, I\'ve at least found a common theme to all of the WU\'s that I\'ve gotten for the last 3 days. They\'re all \"resends\" of WUs that expired without being returned by other hosts. The last WU that I got that was part of an original replication was some time on the 17th. I brought that up in the Urgent Problems Thread yesterday I think, I still see the same thing today, most of the work I\'m getting has been sent out 2-4 times already. Which HR class is getting the work? Not my windows P4. |

Ah well... it was a thought. :\\ Well ya\'ll are still on to something as the resends are about 80% of what I get....Scott did say something about shutting off the work generator for a few days last week.......we all know that if something is changed server side it takes a long time to get it changed back to where it works right again....a day turns into a week ...a week turns into a month.... Scott also said we are going back to longer tasks soon (whatever that means...week? ...month? ) |

Well ya\'ll are still on to something as the resends are about 80% of what I get.... Interesting. My few remaining stragglers are all resends, and all on my oddball Celeron (all other hosts have been dry all day). Just looked at recently completed tasks and they were all resends. So, one specific type of hardware, and all resends - It\'s a cleanup operation with some HR \'factors\'. Was just about to go NNT and a \'fresh\' resend just landed in the Celeron queue. This is weird and frustrating. Al. |

All dry over my way, keep getting the same old message: \"My BOINC Manager\" wrote: 20/07/2008 22:52:22|Cosmology@Home|Message from server: No work sent There seems to be plenty of work, so why isn\'t it being sent out?.... has Scott done an App. update by any chance? If so, maybe he\'s doing some housekeeping to get rid of old resends before he releases the new app/WUs?? Hey Jeff, you getting any info from HQ?? ![]() |

HQ has a communication problem ....no new news til further notice (Scott drops in and posts)-Jeff ...and Scott has posted somewhere that he\'s about done with school. It seems like this project may end up like Predictor after the move, i.e. a project without available resources that may send \"test\" tasks out every now and then while they\'re testing different theories... ![]() |

I\'ve had precisely 2 wus since the server probs - both were resends. (using my ancient win98 banger) |

Theres still about 22,000+ Outstanding Wu\'s according to the Server Status Page, hard to say but Scott may not release the next Batch of Wu\'s until those are pretty much cleaned up. My thinking is those Wu\'s will have to expire & be sent out again because as hard as it\'s been to get any new work those Wu\'s should have been done already. Just keep your Channels open though and you may get surprised, I know yesterday morning somehow I got around 150 Wu\'s across my Pharm, it\'s been all down hill since then though & at the moment I don\'t have any Down on the Ole Pharm ...:) |

Well, I don\'t know what happened, but suddenly they\'re flying out of the server like Cosmo is having a fire sale on WUs! Nearly all of my machines have a full cache now and the remaining are just waiting to update. From looking at logs, it appears the jam broke around 30-40 minutes ago. Who did what? :) ![]() |

I am sure you are right Poor Boy. The nine I downloaded aabout 1 hour ago have an id of wu_070908_xxxxxx_x_x meaning they were created on the July 9th. It has been some days since I\'ve seen anything downloaded that was been created immediately prior to the download. Earlier today I decided to check the proportion of pendinmg to results as the web pages were super fast. However, I was immediately distracted in the task by finding some wu\'s I had downloaded on July 17th were still in progress. I only had a handful of Cosmo wu\'s on my machines at the time - there were all downloaded this morning. A search of the various log files on my machines revealed no trace of these wu\'s. However at the time of the supposed downloads my logs showed an HTTP internal errors following an update. This problem was first reported by mweisensee on July 17th at http://www.cosmologyathome.org/forum_thread.php?id=530 The 17th seems to have been a bad day as I have counted 15 wu\'s down to my machines(in three batches) which did not download due to HTTP errors. One of those batches co-incided with mweisensee\'s reported error but involved different work units. It also seems to explain why we are seeing alternately \"No work\" messages and \"committed to other platforms\". If the 10 day deadline has not expired on any wu in the units to send we will see \"No Work\" but if something is available and was first processed by an AMD machine and your machine is Intel you will get the \"committed to other platforms\" message. (And vice versa, of course). I am not sure how long it is going to take to clear theses old work units as I have seen HTTP error messages my machines logs for today - those updates may have been bringing work (or more likely not!). All we can do is try to clear any work we do get as quickly as we can. It is a frustrating business but at least we now know one of the root causes of the problem is the HTTP internal error messages sometimes seen when work is trying to be downloaded. Phoneman1 P.S. Thunder, yes but all mine downloaded in the last hour were created on either July 9th or 10th, i.e. they are all re-sends. |

P.S. Thunder, yes but all mine downloaded in the last hour were created on either July 9th or 10th, i.e. they are all re-sends. I suspected the same, but I checked and found differently. Of the tasks that I pulled down in the last hour, you are correct in that the bulk were created on the 9th or 10th, but so far all that I\'ve checked indicate that only about 1/2 are re-sends. The remainder are all initial replications that have simply been sitting on the server waiting to be sent for 9-11 days. ![]() |

Have any of you guys checked in your Account to see if the Wu\'s on you Computers are in your Account too. I\'ve received and returned Wu\'s today but don\'t see them in my Account anywhere ... ??? PS: Never mind, I found them finally, I had to go back about 20 Pages & they showed up. Normally their right at the head of your Results or Computer Task listings but these were buried deep. |

Mine all appear to be in both places. But I do think they could get rid of some of the completed/validated WUs that are still clogging up the DB. ![]() Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

Got the same thing goin on here, new wu\'s buried way back in my tasks. Is there a reason why they\'re not at the top of the list anymore? A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory |

If I\'m not mistaken I believe it has something to do with the Task ID #, the Wu or Wu\'s are just taking their place in line with the Task ID #\'s of the other Tasks I think, or something like that anyway hehe ... :) PS: I thought for awhile that the work being released today could be the new new app version Scott made mention of on the Front page on the July 14\'th. 2008, but I don\'t think it is, I\'m still seeing v2.12 .. Maybe Scott just released some more work just to shut everybody up about not having any Wu\'s. Like here\'s your !@*#$*&%! Work now shut the heck up about it will ya ... hahaha ... ;) |
