I don\'t know if this will help Scott but the commonality in those not getting work is windows from where I can see others hosts.

Jeff, I only have a very little amount of work on the Linux Box\'s I have, so it\'s not just the Windows Box\'s that can\'t get work. I have around 50 Wu\'s with 40 of them on 1 Box, the other 13 Box\'s have less than 10 Total ... 0_0

In front of me I have 3 Linux boxes all running AMD x2 procs. One has a full cache and has been churning out WUs for about 2 days now. The other two, no matter how I try to persuade, remain empty.

I only get this. Over and over and...

Sat 19 Jul 2008 05:34:46 AM HST|Cosmology@Home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 82800 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks

Sat 19 Jul 2008 05:35:01 AM HST|Cosmology@Home|Message from server: No work sent

:(

edit to add:
Regarding the post immediately under this one.
I don\'t get your second two lines..Only the three I posted. Nothing about no work from project or deferring.
So strange...*cue twilight zone music*

I\'m getting the same messages:

Cosmology@Home ... Message from server: No work sent
Cosmology@Home ... Deferring communication for x min y sec
Cosmology@Home ... Reason: no work from project

I have 7 boxes signed up on Cosmology. Three have been totally out of work for days and only get the messages above. One is less than an hour away from running out. Two more are less than 24 hours away from running out. Only one has more than a days worth of work. All the backlogs are actually high as all the boxes are running other projects too so time remaining is based on a 50% share of processor time. I was running Cosmology at 100% share on most of the boxes but I can\'t count on it any longer so I\'ve been forced to attach other projects since Cosmology won\'t send me any work.

All boxes are Windows XP, various processors.

Well, I\'ve got 5 XP boxes on Cosmo. Looks like the only box I get any work on is Ye Olde Celeron, and that\'s not enough to keep more than half a days cache. Oh, just had a look, I seem to have snagged one WU on my slowest P4 about 6 hours ago also. Other than that I\'ve got a few WUs from days ago hanging about, but basically I\'m dry on 80% of my hosts.

If Cosmo doesn\'t want to send me any Wu\'s then I like to look on the bright side of it, I get to run a lot of other Projects I wouldn\'t normally run that actually send you some Wu\'s to do instead of letting you waste all your time & CPU Cycles constantly calling for work & never getting any.

Of course if you don\'t want to run any other Projects then you always have the option to sit there & watch that Stupid BOINC Manager Message over & over again from Cosmo that your Request has Succeeded in getting you 0 new Tasks, thats always kinda entertaining for a few seconds ... :)

Tsk, tsk, you must be mistaken...Server Status says there are tens of thousands of tasks waiting for your computing enjoyment ;)

I\'ve suspended Cosmo rather than bog down internet traffic with requests for non-existent work. (Shaking head in disbelief I wonder how long I will remain stupid enough to cling to this project; isn\'t that insanity? I mean doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting a different result?)

I\'ve started to get a trickle of work through - still patchy, but I have downloaded units for 4 machines in the past hour or so. No sign of a full cache anytime soon!

I have no Idea whats going on, it\'s like the Project and the Boinc Client are working hand in hand. The Project is in no hurry to send you any work and the Boinc Client is in no hurry to call for any.

I\'m running 2 Projects 50/50 on all my Box\'s, Cosmo & MilkyWay, MilkyWay\'s Cache stays fairly full while the Cosmos Cache is either very low or just plain empty. Although I did see 1 Box yesterday only running 3 Cores even though their set to run 4 Cores, there was no work from Cosmo in the Cache and the Manager wasn\'t calling for any either.

All the MilkyWay Wu\'s were done except for the 3 that were running and the BOINC Manager wasn\'t returning them or calling for more work from that Project either to get the 4\'th Core running like it\'s supposed to do.

Anyway the Manager Contacts the Cosmo Server asking for work, the Server as usual says no you ain\'t getting any Wu\'s so the Manager goes to sleep for 3 or 4 hours or more some times before it contact\'s the Cosmo Server again asking for more work again and getting rejected again most of the time.

Well, I\'ve at least found a common theme to all of the WU\'s that I\'ve gotten for the last 3 days. They\'re all \"resends\" of WUs that expired without being returned by other hosts. The last WU that I got that was part of an original replication was some time on the 17th.

This sort of makes sense since the # of WU\'s \"ready to send\" has been floating right around 95k since then, but sometimes increasing or decreasing by a few hundred.

I\'d say the only work being issued now are rereplicated WU\'s and the bulk of the 95k available are lost in a state that the server cannot access to send.

If anyone else could look at the WU\'s for the tasks they were sent in the last few days, I\'d be curious to know if others are seeing the same.

Thunder in eye-balling my managers the last few days I have seen resends in batches but also new sends in batches....those with designation 0 or 1 at the end of the task.....so I am getting both not just resends...like I said they tend to come in waves.
