I think with everyone so split on OLD/NEW maybe you should have a choice/link on the home page or take a poll and let the masses decide.

Nah, logic dictates: 1) there is a group that likes the old design but strongly DIS-likes the new design; 2) oth the group that likes the new design don\'t necessarily DIS-like the old, they just prefer the new. Therefore we should go back to the old design which better satisfies the masses.

It would be possible to fix the usability bugs(!) in the new design.

As long as this has not be done, the new design is not an option for me.

It is not a question of taste, in the new design some elements are just broken,
like the invisible input elements and the completely unstructured tables with
the table contents just cluttered over the page.

I really recommend to read some UI style guides. IBM and Siemens used to have
quite good and strict ones that have been strongly usability oriented, not sure
if those are available for the public, but there are other good ones on the web
too.

Concept of the week is getting rather old

With the time the project developers seem to have available, I\'m guessing the solution will be to change the title to \"Concept of the Year\" as opposed to updating it.

Though if they\'re interested in outside contribution, I could probably toss some simplified definitions along with a graphic their way.

How about \"Anisotropy\" (or Anisotropic) for a next one? I could handle that. ;)

Other suggestions might be \"Black Body\", \"Scattering\", \"Red Shift\", \"Plasma\", \"Baryon\" or \"Polarization\" just to think of a few off the top of my head that might relate to the research of this project.

Edit: Throw in \"Adiabatic Cooling\". Being both an amateur astronomer and a professional meteorologist, that\'s one I can definitely handle... it\'s about the only term I can think of that both share in common.

Change \"Concept of the week\" into \"Task of the week\". We can auction or hold a raffle to determine who is sent the (only) \"task of the week\". We\'ll throw in some lensing and a restart loop to make it interesting. And the lucky winner is posted on the home page in place of \"User of the day\". However, no one will be left crunching at cosmo to view it. ;) (nevermind me I\'m just amusing myself)

How about \'Contempt\'? That\'s all we volunteers see around here these days. Might be nice to formalise the arrangement.

Well, it may not be the \"be all - do all - end all\" of screen presentations, but it certainly is a change from the other projects that I\'m currently attached. My congratulations on your efforts to stand out from the rest of the crowd.

I do see that when entering data, some of the text can \"hang out\" beyond the right edge of the border area when entering data. Obviously a minor change required in either the border or in the active size of the response area. Problem disappears when the comment is posted and placed on the thread...
