New Cosmology@Home website design test

There are still some rough edges (when posting, for example), but it\'s mostly done. This was created by our recently-departed graphics designer a little while ago, but we\'ve been holding it back until the server issues were resolved.

Please report any bugs you might find and give feedback about the look of the site.

Current Bugs
-The forum post page does not obey the correct boundaries.

Fixed Bugs
-PHP errors on the \"Top Teams\" page.
-Downloads page errors out

I like it. Very peaceful to the eyes. Also fun new logo, one can find the C, the @ and know instantly what the house means. :-D

I can\'t wait..

I love the new layout! It is easy and appealing to the eyes. This should bring in more traffic and more volunteer paticipation. I look forward when the new layout becomes official.

I hope you are also making layout changes to the message board as well.

Looks really nice. I like the concept of the week on the front page. But then I\'m a sucker for science and education.

The new layout looks really great!

A \"change page width\" option like in the \"old\" layout would be nice... ;)

I\'ll work on that, but it may prove to be a bit more difficult that the last time.

Hi Scott,

Good job for the new website~
Just wonder if we can have subscription service for RSS feed for the Message board?

Other links in the test site that might not be working:

The forum buttons disappear, so the btn class might need a little modification.

Inactive input fields (like \"search_keywords\") are invisible

The table frames on the user pages would need to be at least a little brighter, black on black makes the pages look somehow unstructured.

I like the space invaders icon :-)

The \"unread*\" icons don\'t stick out enough, the current dark yellow wasn\'t that bad there.

Basically I do like dark pages, they are environment friendly (at least on some monitor types like CRT and Plasma) ;-)

Using the old thread. There\'s a big white space between the banner and the blackboard on the front page. Will that be filled in by something?

This is astoundingly ugly.

Wastes 50% of the screen with useless white space - left and right.

I think it looks great! A lot easier on the eyes! Now about the screen width thing like we had on the old setup, could you bring that back? Also email notification for PM\'s still not working

Overall the site looks great. I like the colour scheme.

A few remarks:
- The font used on the home page for the \"how to join, your account, message boards and goodies\" links is really tiny. So is the text of the concept of the week. I use IE7 with text size \"medium\". Changing text size to larger or largest does not help
- There is a nasty interference in the form for making a message board post between the right vertical white line and the rest of the form.

EDIT: Additional remark:
- The icons that indicate new posts are not very easy to distinguish. We\'re so used to yellow icons for new posts on most Boinc forums. Maybe best to stick with that?

\"Your Account\" from the drop-down menu loads extremely slowly and when it eventually shows, it has these errors at the top:

It\'s deeply, deeply ugly. Looks nearly as bad as RCN and Suduko. Black websites are for trendy media companies, not for serious science projects.

I\'m looking at a skinny third of a screen (widescreen monitor), populated with salmon pink and white. I feel like it\'s 20 years ago when these visual \'treats\' were supposed to be \'clever\'. Difficult to read too.

I\'m not surprised that your designer left. I guess he/she didn\'t want to be associated with this crock.

Well, you *did* ask ...

I would be really happy about the wider view as well, otherwise the page looks like this:

But apart from the \"wasted space\" I like the new colors. Good work! :-)))
Lovely greetings, Cori

Change page width is very needed, some items overhang page border lines, it looks terrible.
BLACK PAGES!!!! Yeeeuuukkk. no way.
It looks doom and gloomy. buttons hard to find.
I dont post much on any projects but this makes it dificult to read,

I had the same problem as Jord. The first couple of tries did not load the black background so all the white text was invisible. It is also very slow to load, too narrow and text overhangs. Dave.

Well, on first look the new design is nice... but that white on black makes it very hard to read through long texts.

Adding to the page width button we need a invert color button!
