for some reason, there seems to be an error in finding my account as a participant... The search function looks inside the profile text. It does not look for participant names. As an example, try and look for the word \"medieval\" This said, the alphabetical profile overview pages give errors. See for example http://www.cosmologyathome.org/user_profile/profile_A_1.html BOINC.BE: For Belgians who love the smell of glowing red cpu's in the morning Tutta55's Lair |

Bat...appreciate your response...but, after participating in 17 other projects since 2000...I still do not understand why my account does not show up in participant profile....not the end of the world, though....was just curious.. |

It does I don\'t think it is \"an error\" on Stan\'s part...more like whoever made BOINC changes... From what I can tell, there are two different implementations of Participant Profiles. The implementation here is very much like MilkyWay@Home, but take a look at the implementation at Einstein@Home. Either the ability to search by user name is project controlled or is controlled by the server-side software in use. My personal guess is with the latter... If so, Cosmology can\'t do anything about it other than lobby to have it put back in... If however it is project controlled, they\'d just need to add the name search in addition to the profile text search... ![]() |

It does The error message looks much like an issue with the custom menu on top of the pages or another ccustom change here in this project : output started at /home/boincadm/projects/cosmohome/html/ops/update_profile_pages.php Imo. normal user accessible web pages should not have any connection to \"ops\" as \"ops\" should require the project admin login to the web server. Stan\'s profile has nothing to do with that but his problem is sure caused by that error. |

It does He does not have his name in the text of his profile, so his profile will still not be shown. The only solution is to have his name in the profile text or for this project, as well as MilkyWay, to include searching by user name. When searching at MilkyWay, which provides only the text search, or when using the text search at Einstein, his profile is not found either... IMO, Stan, if you really want to be found no matter what, you can probably just add your name into the profile text and it will work across all projects... ![]() |

Brian...thanks for the response...I have a sense of what you are steering me to do here...and I know that the first project that did not give me my profile in the participant section was Milkyway...then followed by this Cosmology... but, as regards Einstein, I can put my name in \"user search\" and it brings up my profile...also in the participant profile section, my profile is listed on the 33rd page with my avatar... anyhoos,...I felt it was an interesting \"aside\".issue....and it does not worry me any...but really do appreciate all the responses... |

This is because there is a difference between a search on the profile body vs. the profile header, which would have the user name. I don\'t know if \"body\" and \"header\" is appropriate for comparison, as BOINC profiles may not have such a thing, but it is the best analogy I could come up with... More than likely the reason Cosmology and MilkyWay have the type of search that they have is that the functionality is likely based off of whatever server-side code that the projects have installed. If that is the case, then the change would need to be made over at BOINC for searching either both ways or for the text search to include searching on the user name as well as the profile text. If however the projects can control this, then Cosmology and MilkyWay would both need to add the search by user name capability... ![]() |
