Just a mention that my oldest and lowest spec box - a plent lll with only 256 ram, is crunching for C@H with only 1 (so far) detectable problem.

It spends most of its time logged off with Boinc running as a service.

The only prob so far is logging on when a wu is close to finish. Memory gets short and a new wu kicks in.

This is obviously easily avoided by logging in after the estimated completion time.

It has even occassionally managed to complete 2 wu in a day.

Hope that info is of help.

With Regards to all crunchers

I\'m running Cosmology@Home on an AMD Duron 1200 MHz with 384 MB of RAM. The O/S is Windows ME, and I\'ve had no problems with it. It usually takes about 9 hours to finish a work unit, so I get through two most days and three occasionally. I shut it down every few days, then reboot it and restart BOINC. And it runs... :-)

My lowest spec machine is this one: http://cosmologyathome.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=132. A Pentium III 800 with a whopping 128MB RAM. It runs the Cosmology work units if needed, but when it needs to switch with other projects the machine spends a lot of time thrashing. I have \"Leave applications in memory while suspended\" set to Yes to avoid losing fragments of work between checkpoints.

@ashj: Is it necessary to log off?

Hi Guy,

When my box was crunching for Einstein@H, wu\'s of the same legth seemed to take longer when the box was left logged on. I did not investigate this in any detail, it was just an impression I had which could well be wrong.

With Regards
