I\'m getting these messages:

2/7/2008 4:25:43 AM|Cosmology@Home|You used the wrong URL for this project
2/7/2008 4:25:43 AM|Cosmology@Home|The correct URL is http://cosmologyathome.org/
2/7/2008 4:25:43 AM|Cosmology@Home|Using the wrong URL can cause problems in some cases.
2/7/2008 4:25:43 AM|Cosmology@Home|When convenient, detach this project, then reattach to http://cosmologyathome.org/

I\'ve already done what it asked me to do - detach and reattach with the stated URL - once before and the messages are back.

What\'s going on?

Upper-/lowercase problem?

BOINC currently compares the URLs case sensitive (even though the protocol, server and domain part should not be), so if you typed \"http://Cosmologyathome.org/\", BOINC will report it as an incorrect URL.

You can see what URL you are attached to in the account file for cosmology in your BOINC directory. When you double-click it, it should open in the web browser or in an editor and show the <master_url> entry.

p.s.: please do not post the complete file here, it contains your account ID.

AHA! Here\'s the line from xml file:

<master_url>http://www.cosmologyathome.org/</master_url>

I don\'t remember typing in the \"www\"... oh well, I\'ll finish the enqueued WUs, detach, and then reattach to the URL without the \"www\".

Thanks for your help.

In the last few days this same error has popped up again although the reverse of this posts first report as the \'www\' is now the problem.
Do I have to reattach to this project to fix this up or can the recent change that caused this be fixed at the server end?

If you don\'t feel like fixing it, just ignore the message, it still works fine without www.

Thanks for replying Ananas,
I had noticed that it still worked and could remember the posting about it not being a problem (just could not find the thread that the post was in).
I just thought it strange it has now popped up after not being a problem for a while.
I reattached last time, but if it is not causing a problem then I might just leave it for the time being.

Like I said in some other thread a little while back, when the server shenanigans happened a while back, I had to temporarily set the project URL to the non-www version. However, the www version is the one that we prefer. Unlike before, this won\'t cause any problems since both URLs actually point to the same IP, so it\'s not imperative to change it around unless you\'re tired of seeing the warning.

Well, several of my team members are now \"complaining\" about the constantly appearing message.
The most of them are using BAM (including me), which Willy of BOINCstats did switch to the non-www version.
I started to ignore the message and I guess because of a misunderstanding I thought it would fix itself with the time.
Wouldn\'t it be better when Willy would switch the stats back again to the www-version then if you prefer that?
It would prevent the \"complainings\" about the wrong URL message, too. ;-)

G\'Day jason_gee,
There is no actual Fix as you call it.
The message will not hurt as both url\'s will work.
If it really bothering you and you want to get rid of the message then do as it says and detach then reattach to the project.
How you do that depending on what you use, Boinc Manager if directly connected or an Account Manager if you use one of those.

Hope this helps.
I am getting to the point where I might also do as the message says but not yet as it has not annoyed me enough at the moment.

Hi Thanks for answering, Problem is I am using Boinc Account manager so detaching and reattaching will simply use the wrong address again anyway. The admin at BAM! (Willy) has posted that he won\'t update the address because he doesn\'t want people to lose work. I will try and ignore the message a while longer then when I get sick of it I\'ll be forced to choose between using BAM and cosmology.

Well, not really true.

This is OK:
boinccmd --host honza --project http://www.cosmologyathome.org/ update

This is a no go and gives Error -161: not found
boinccmd --host honza --project http://cosmologyathome.org/ update

I see now there are bigger problems with the servers and kindof regret bringing it up, I will try to be patient and wait this out.

No Longer Benign,
It is the only message I now get from Cosmology. There is obviously no communication between this project and BAM. My post over there

\"Same Here , I get no good answer from here or Cosmoslogy...

Cosmoslogy says its not a problem .. I say then don\'t issue error messages.

Willy [BAM] says says won\'t update address

Please communicate with one another, Scott and Willy. This is poor quality.\"

I\'ve had this message and found it is related to BAM they appear to have Cosmologies address wrong on their manager. If your using BAM then disconnect from them and then follow the procedure you did before and this should get you back on track.

I have now detached from Cosmology, and stopped using BAM. With only one project now I don\'t need an account manager either.

A simple message to Willy from project admin here informing him of the correct address would probably be sufficient to correct the problem. I, perhaps incorrectly, understand this is what he is waiting for.

I will wait until some of the server issues are resolved and this account manager problem also, before I consider reattaching.

All the best,
Jason

Willy has just switched the URL to the www. one.

But beware!

To get there he needs to detach and reattach the project, and will simply delete any work not reported and start again. So it would be fine to manually update the project after the next best WU and synchronise with BAM! direct afterwards. You will delete some non-started WUs, but they will be resend to someone else, so no real problem with that.
