We are figuring out that more and more people own a PS3, but the lack of compatible projects (only 2 available, \"PS3GRID and Yoyo@home) is limiting the installation of the BOINC Paltform on them. I would be interesting that you develop an application for Linux PowerPC and so could take advantage of an enormous computing power that will be raising with time to reach, we hope, the PetaFlops. That was possible for Folding@home so why not for BOINC.

Some projects-applications may never be able to be ported to a PS3 due to memory requirements. CAMB may or may not be one of them...I don\'t know...but CAMB has heavy memory usage and at present at least this issue may prevent using a PS3.

I know it has been said over at CPDN that it will never happen.Maybe as future models of PS3 equivalent(PS4?)come out it may be more feasible for general use.

I don\'t think CAMB will ever make it to the PS3... but maybe in the future we\'ll have an application that is suitable. Time will tell.

I know this might be a little bit off-topic, but I think the support for GPU processing is also very interesting.... Although I have no idea on whether the CAMB codebase would benefit from it at all...

Cheers,

Bought my ps3 specifically for BOINC. I would be willing to farm them if there was another project available. Yoyo doesn\'t count as it is just a wrapper for distributed.net which already has a native ps3 app that works better anyway.

Just wanted to chime in my support as the ps3 has amazing number crunching ability per watt. Sony told me the soonest a ps4 will be available is late 2010 but no guarantees. We all have this incredible machine already why not take advantage of it? Word is Seti will have an official app soon so hopefully this paves the way. However, seti isn\'t really my thing. (Why search for something that is here, lol) Einstein is supposedly working on an app.
