It more than likely has something to do with Scott either going into some Accounts and Manually Adjusting the Credit for some Wu\'s or Scott running a Script to grant credit & the credit didn\'t go to both the Account & Computer ... ???

But that\'s what I\'m saying - there should be only ONE record of credit which is linked to both the Host ID and the User ID. If even this fundamental of relational databases does not apply ( One item of data - One record), then one has to wonder about the scalability of the database.

Conan- In the scheme of things you obviously think this is important and I wish not to demean that ...however that said this issue has no bearing on the science being produced or the database integrity ...it is due to manual intervention and since it appears the database has been purged since such intervention it would take a lot of time to try to adjust this....others in this thread have already mentioned it happens all the time due to deleted hosts and most participants also think this is trivial because this has been going on from Boinc inception and is just the nature of the beast.You must never delete hosts to have everything sync up so well for you.(I also have point differentials on different stat sites even when updates are in sync.)

I would much rather see the generator lensing parameter solved than anything else and fear the projects resource is limited at being able to fix these minor issues.This is why I consider it trivial pursuit with only a time consuming option available as a solution.

I am going to take a look at this. Sorry for the delay, but things have been crazy this week.

Not MySQL syntax but something like this should do :

create temp table host_sum (
  user  integer;
  total double
);

insert into host_sum
  select userid, sum(total_credit)
  from host
  group by 1;

create unique index host_sum_i on host_sum (user);

begin work;

  lock table user in exclusive mode;

  update user
    set total_credit = (
      select total
        from host_sum
        where host_sum.user = user.id
    );

commit;

The \"code\" tag ate my indents :-/

We\'re going to continue to have these upheavals if proper unit testing is skipped... If the project does not have the resources to do unit testing on their own, they could set up an area where people can sign up for doing unit testing.

Edit: Just noticed my RAC is 888... Makes me think of Little Caesar\'s... LOL

That host totals thing is not urgend at all, it can be done anytime later, maybe it would even qualify as a cleanup tool from Berkeley - so they\'d have to do that work ;-)
