They seemed to have an update at 3am today, but the timestamp at least in tables.xml was the same as the last updated prior to the crash...

It\'s my understanding that when this is fixed, i.e. xml stats are being updated again, then 3rd party stats will run once again.

Any progress on a fix Scott?

I think I\'ve got it working. Running it as a task via the config.xml file never seems to work for me, but running it as a cron job seems to work just fine.

2007-11-17 06:24:31 GMT show no changes in stats

I think it may have updated once, but doesn\'t appear to be updating now..

Also. is the clock correct actually correct on the server ? The xml files have a timestamp of 5am this morning. The Free-DC server last updated the stats at 1.51am CDT (which I presume the server is also on) ?

Unless the interval has changed for some reason instead of every 6 hours.

Well, no, that wouldn\'t explain the discrepancy in the timestamps. I\'m saying the last changed files at that time were at 1am CDT according to my stats update, but the timestamps on the files themselves were 5am CDT. Either the server time was wrong OR the files were updated but the last_update_time was not being set, which is what I check inside tables.xml to see whether I should download the entire set..

OK, I figured out why this keeps happening.

I\'m running db_dump as a cron job, which is run as root. This means that the stats directory became owned by root (and therefore nobody could read it). I\'ve explicitly added a couple of lines to change the folder\'s owner.

LET HOPE THIS WORKS =)

IT WORKS! IT WORKS!

Nice job.

Ummm, would it be too much to ask that we build on previous success and increase the frequency of the updates? It seems to be updating about 4 times a day, though I haven\'t actually clocked it. Could we go for maybe, every 3 hours?

The 3rd-party stats are how we tell how well our machines are performing. Currently, we can tell that they\'re running, but not much more. Most of the stats machines check for updates hourly, so we\'ll get more information as soon as it\'s available. Thanks.

In the beginning, there was nothing, which exploded.

FWIW, stats update here far more often than SETI or Einstein. SETI only does theirs once daily, while Einstein does twice daily.

I think you have to keep in mind the relatively few number of participants here at Cosmology right now. The db_dump doesn\'t take too long. However, the more participants you have, the longer the dump takes.
