Thanks for that detailed explanation Ben. I am still not clear on when we will actually be using the Planck data though assuming it flies in Feb 2009.Will it be when it reaches L2? Or will it be when the 1st full skymap is produced 6 months later? Somewhere in betwween? |

Thanks for that detailed explanation Ben. The Planck collaboration, including me and my group will start analyzing the Planck data as soon as it comes down. At that point we will be using the results from Cosmology@Home. The system is set up so we won\'t be sending out the Planck data on C@H. The contribution from Cosmology@Home is the ability to perform the model calculations at the required precision to analyze the Planck data. For more details check out the information under \"cosmic background\" on my home page (click my name on the nav bar above). Briefly, our machine learning code Pico uses the results from C@H to speed up the theoretical calculations we compare to the Planck data by a factor of around 100,000. With that speed-up we can keep running these comparisons as the data come in and as the parts of the analysis pipeline between the raw data and the theoretical analysis get updated. All the best, Ben Creator of Cosmology@Home |

That is what I asked you about several months ago but did not get a reply. I am pleased to hear that this project is going well despite the hiccups. I will continue to be involved and look forward to the results! |

Hallo Jessica - unter "Join" in der Menueleiste oben click auf "How to Join." Google Translate sollte das einigermassen uebersetzen. Sag' mir bescheid wenn Du danach noch fragen hast. Alles Gute, Ben Creator of Cosmology@Home |
