With a fixed credit system, why do we need pending credits at all when we know the result will be 50 credits?
Using a quorum of 1, all pending credits could be instantly granted.

If I remember correctly, they want a second result to check the validity. At least in this stage of the project.

As I understand the pending credit function takes up resources. Since all results are given the same amount of credit it would be logical this function be disabled.

Misfit that would be illogical because you would have no central location to check what work is pending. The corporate farms would scream bloody murder IMHO

I would go here for that. But this just takes up resources.

I have about 50 pending now that I can find all on 1 page. Your method might take me an hour to find them all and I am a lil fish. Take a look for example at Poorboys hosts. He would have to look through 1000's of pages to find them all ...THAT is a bigger waste of resources...would work like a charm on a 1 quorum project but not here and besides the fixed credit system as we know it now is only temporary as I understand what Scott has said correctly and will be gone sometime in Beta/Production.

More like about 200 pages, which still would take a little time on my part to see any pending Wu's. Having them on 1 page is convenient & does serve a purpose, especially now with the Pending Credits the central issue with the project.

It would be nice however if the Host ID was shown on the Pending Credits page. I will a lot of times copy the data to a spreadsheet to look it over and sort it. Having the Host ID would allow you to see if a given host was having a problem.

I could be mistaken but I don't think any of the BOINC projects show the host ID on the Pending Page, you have to click on either the Result ID or Workunit ID to see the Host ID ...

Sorry, I didn't make my self clear: it would be nice, but would require a Boinc Server software change. One for my wish list. Tried to open a Boinc:Trac ticket with the suggestion, but they appear to be down.

Ticket #377 (new Enhancement)

Web: List Host ID on Pending Credit Page
Reported by: ohiomike Assigned to: Rytis
Priority: Minor Milestone: Undetermined
Component: Server - Web - Project Keywords:

Description
It would be nice if the Host ID was shown on the Pending Credits page. Having the Host ID would allow you to see if a given host was having a problem instead of having to clicking on several hundred entries to determine which host is getting all the pending WUs.

Hope it gets implemented Mike, it's something I've always thought that the Pending Page should show too ...

Great job Ohiomike posting on both those issues to the Boinc trac.......lets hope we get some action....both issues seem to be fairly simple to implement from my perspective (little programming knowledge here)

Something along these lines that I've thought about is a field that showed a percentage (or some other reasonable metric) of failed W/U for a particular host. Maybe, in addition, if a particular host goes above a certain threshold of failed W/U's an email is sent to the owner of said computer.

The people over at SETI have been trying to get a similar thing though to notify people running obsolete versions of Boinc or their science app (kills the credit received by their partners), but with not luck. The problem with the failure metric is the calculations that would be required by the server (which everyone is worried about overloading on most projects).

Well I have sent a bug issue to BOINC and it took a couple of versions before it was implemented. But I am sure it will be soon since it seems there is not a lot in Trac.

Seeing that the other person is a team mate of yours, one UBT-PaulT, perhaps it's wise to ask on your team forums if he has run into a snag with his hardware. All the results are timing out due to his computer missing the deadline. Have patience, they'll be sent out again in due time.

They are all in the state 'canceled', so it must be some WU's that have been canceled on 26 Aug by the project.
There is a post on this message board about it :

Cancelled WUs have (finally) been deleted, so they should trouble you no more.
