I have some WUs that fall into that category as well. I am hoping that Scott's new directives to the server (giving a higher priority to older WUs) will help. ![]() |

This would account for pending where one is waiting for his wing man to return. However, the problem I *think* this thread is about, is where there is no wing man yet, because the second result hasn't been issued, or re-issued yet. Your right Zombie67, but I was just bring up the Pending Wu's in General, out of the 265 Pending Wu's that I have mine are about 50/50. Some are waiting for the Wingman to finish the Wu & some just haven't been resent again. My Pending Credits actually went down a little from yesterday, the 1'st time it's gone down from the previous day after 6 or 7 days of steadily rising. So maybe things are or will start to turn around a little now that we've had a few day's to settle down from the URL Change & other things ... :) |

I noticed the French reduction. In fact many of my pending WUs had been sent to their team members. Any idea why they jumped ship? The French Team is a very Strong Team and they are involved in a lot of the other BOINC Projects if not all of them. I guess they did what they wanted to do here and moved on, but they more than likely will be back in full force some where down the road I suspect ... |

I noticed the French reduction. In fact many of my pending WUs had been sent to their team members. Any idea why they jumped ship? I know how strong they are as a team. I was just wondering if they had called the on the troops to make a big push at another project (I would check their web site but I do not speak french) And to help keep this post on topic, My pending credit is actually getting longer. But I will keep watching, espicially the WUs that have only been sent to me and no one else. ![]() |

I see 25 Pending on 1 of your PC's & 12 on the other, thats not really a big amount. My PC's have an average of 34-35 each Pending. It kinda looks like you had the misfortune of pairing up with Host # 1715-1737-1739 & 1751 on the PC with 25 Pending. I Suspect those Host are either the same Host or a Group of Host belonging to the same Person. For some reason those 4 Host's # had an unusually large number of Download error's, I get 1 every now and then but nothing like those 4 Hosts have ... Weird |

It looks like Scott's "tweak" to the scheduler is working. 298 pending= 200 in progress, 58 not sent initially, 40 not re-sent after errors. It looks like things are catching up, these numbers are much better than previous. PS- Saw lots of "download failures" while looking, but that is a different issue for a different thread. ![]() ![]() Boinc Button Abuser In Training >My Shrubbers< |

Hehe, not yet ;) Indeed (same as BoincSynergy, BTW) we are present on a lot of projects, and lately we love that SIMAP bunch of WUs - maybe it's because of this we're dropping... maybe because of the hottie summer :) La Tierra de un Dios que no supo aceptar / su falso derecho a la libertad - Tierra Santa Descárgate mi primer eBook Amaneceres |

Anyway I know I got zapped by several of the same people who have d/l errors. ![]() |

It looks like Scott's "tweak" to the scheduler is working. I think it does not work. Look: A simple Homogeneous-Redundancy-Test: There are only three Pentium M with OS Linux at Cosmo
WU 367570 Success , pending , second unsent. WU 367173 Success , pending , second unsent. WU 359427 Success , pending , second unsent. and my Laptop Host 193. I would like to become a wingman. But it seems as if they wouldn't know each other. I only get complete new WUs. Live long and prosper, OS/2 Five |

Right now my pending queue is still getting longer. So I may have spoken too soon. I am having a hard time tracking if they are completed. In either case my pending is getting longer. ![]() |

Right now my pending queue is still getting longer. So I may have spoken too soon. I am having a hard time tracking if they are completed. In either case my pending is getting longer. As of right now I have 32 WUs that have not been sent to anyone else. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason since it is happening to both my AMD and Intel machines. I have 15 other WUs that had the misfortune of pairing up with several other hosts that had d/l errors. I only have about 5 or so that are actually paired up with someone who might even complete them. Plus a few others that had been paired up with someone but they detached or didn't finish in time. In all about 55 WUs just waiting. ![]() |

my pending has almost reached 10.000 credits claimed now. I vote for no new workunits to be generated by Scott until all current workunits are at least sent out. I know that some pending is regular, but I have way more pending at cosmo with old wus still unsent than with any other project I've participated so far. I vote for no new workunits to be generated by Scott until all current workunits are at least sent out. Sounds like a very reasonable suggestion to me! It is indeed frustrating to have so many pending units, with no end in sight! There must be something that needs adjusting with the scheduler. No other project that I have worked on has this issue, so it must be something that needs a special "fix". |

I'm up to 362 WU's pending (9525 credits). It looks like I gaining about 80/day now. It looks like my Xeon/Linux machine is the one having the most problems. My Pentium M is also having problems running Linux or Windows (but that is really not to much of a surprise, as there aren't that many laptops running this project). ![]() ![]() Boinc Button Abuser In Training >My Shrubbers< |

I like this limiting idea. This is my first post here, occasioned by my finding, as of 8:00 this morning, that of my 198 finished WU's, 98 are "pending". Some have been in this state for several days. This is not so good. Not sure I understand "wingpersons" and other niceties of homo-whatever redundant stuff, but it looks like the ball is being dropped. My laptop, with an AMD Turion X64 times 2 has sent in 24 results since I attached it yesterday, with credit on one WU. I am cultivating patience. Yes :D I do understand about New Projects. (That's why I have only 5 boxen on it.) Our mission here is to point out those things that aren't going to fly in a production environment, yes? In production, this behavior will have crunchers voting with their feet. In the beginning, there was nothing, which exploded. |

Some have been in this state for several days. This is not so good. If I understand "wingpersons" right, it would mean the following: you have one machine that crunches away as much as possible... you get mostly pending credits. you check on the wu's and find that it's almost always the same host someone else owns who's not yet returned his wus. so once your "wingman" returns his wus, you get all your credit at once. I've seen that happen to many of my (mostly identical) hosts as well... once the last host flushes, the other hosts get credit.... oh well. regards, sysfried Happy member of Team: Planet 3D Now! ![]() |

It might be a good idea to look how old the WU with pending credit are. Ohiomike, if I have looked at the right machine, then it seems that most pending WU are returned by you after 18 august. Which is just 3 days ago. (EDIT: I had a closer look and it does seem there are much older ones as well that are not yet generated a second time) I think a better solution than to stop WU production might be that those with large pending credit put the project on low resource share for a while. That way other machines in the same class get the opportunity to pick up the paired WU that are unsent or even not yet generated. But of course that will minimize processing of brand new work units, but that is better I guess than not producing them at all! |

If you follow that thinking to its logical conclusion, we'll all just die on the vine because no one will be processing anyone else's WU's. Am I missing something? I see no option that says, "Just process WU's that have already been sent to someone else." ??? |

No success for Host 193 today. What works? Every of my manually aborted WUs immediately passed on to another host. That works. Now, some of this resent WUs are
