I have heard it said that this is the \"URGENT Problems that we will get around to on Monday Thread\" I would have hoped that someone would have been checking on a new server a little more often. As it is (in the dumpper again) I think my resources would be better of elsewhere. Scott has many times repaired the problems on the weekends.....he has had a hell of a week getting the project back up again and deserves some time away....I will hasten to guess he may be on this by tonight not tommorrow. |

Yes he did & deserves lots of credit for it, but what is the point in requesting participants to come back to the Project just to run into more problems in a short period of time because nobody\'s monitoring the situation ... ??? |

UPDATE: We\'ve got a new machine and I\'m in the process of getting it up and running (we\'re having some trouble with the ethernet driver ). I\'ll be sitting in in front of the computer for the rest of the day trying to get everything running. I would construe the last part of Scott\'s post while the Project was down as a request that people would come back to the Project once it was up again. |

I would construe the last part of Scott\'s post while the Project was down as a request that people would come back to the Project once it was up again. Most would interpret it as simply an expression of hope ... or a wish. Where on the comology site does he say this? |

You can interpret it any way you want for all I care, it was posted while the Project was down & I don\'t have to prove it to you or any one else. That\'s all I\'ll have to say about it, you can argue with yourself about it from here on out. |

Aren\'t we going off topic for this thread? It is supposed to be for urgent problems not whether Scott was inviting people back or not. ![]() |

It is good to work out problems like this now before there is a really large number of crunchers. I believe someday cosmology will have a really large resource of many crunchers. Crunchers understand \"Murphy\'s law\" that things always break down on the weekend. ![]() |

True, Always the weekend it seems. But it is still in Beta, Which is alot better than happening in Fully Op. :) Windows-XP-Pro, AMD 3800X2, 5.10.28 |

Sorry guys, I was in transit back home over the weekend and was without internets. A few notes: log rotation wasn\'t working correctly (hence the disk full problem). That\'s been fixed now. Stats are up again. It turns out the symbolic link to the stats directory wasn\'t working correctly. We\'ve doubled the number of WUs available at any given time, so this should alleviate the \"no work from server\" problems. Scott Kruger Project Administrator, Cosmology@Home |

Server is back up. I took it down to fix a problem with the assimilator. Sorry for the inconvenience. Scott Kruger Project Administrator, Cosmology@Home |

Should I be more patient ... its only been 20 minutes. Or is something actually in need of attention? 28 Nov 2007 5:29:17 UTC Results ready to send 41,982 11/27/2007 9:33:29 PM|Cosmology@Home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work 11/27/2007 9:33:29 PM|Cosmology@Home|Requesting 139707 seconds of new work 11/27/2007 9:33:34 PM|Cosmology@Home|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 601] 11/27/2007 9:33:34 PM|Cosmology@Home|Message from server: No work sent 11/27/2007 9:33:34 PM|Cosmology@Home|Deferring communication for 3 min 33 sec Another problem is that I have the preferences set to connect once a day. Yet I can not get more than 1 or 2 extra wu\'s. On the Xeon system it never has more than 3 hours of work in the \'que\' So when the occasional server outage happens....my system/s run out of work in less than 6 hours. Should I set my pref to connect every 3 days....and fool BOINC into dl\'ing more work? ![]() |

Should I be more patient ... its only been 20 minutes. Server has been on-and-off for a bit while I\'ve been working on a few things that I finally have time to do. It should be working for you now. Scott Kruger Project Administrator, Cosmology@Home |

Having similiar problems as mentioned by Perle. (See also Message 4068) Only downloading one unit at a time with a lot of no work sents inbetween. Will try changing perferences from contact every 1 day to 2 or 3 days to see if increasing the cache size will help. Edit : doubled the cache size and nothing happended. Does not even try to download work. Guess its crunch the little I have and onto other projects. ![]() |
